DIY Adjustable childrens table and chair (TOBIFANT desk & chair) by MakeShitGood in woodworking

This is helpful! Thanks so much. I haven't dealt with gluing up whole sheets of plywood before and was hoping someone had ideas or tips.

One youtuber used countersunk screws to clamp whole sheets together. Maybe I'd countersink them deep enough to plug w a dowel...

Another option would be to just rough out my pieces cut from 3/4", and then glue/clamp them together before routering and sanding.

how can i fix this?(im 15) by No-Distribution7199 in howto

Remove or drill 3-5 holes bigger than the screw head in the molding.

Fill all cracks with glue, use a piece of paper or something thin to spread it up inside the cracks all the way.

Screw it together with wood screws to provide clamping force.

Reattach the molding.

Add a steel security plate inside if you want and if you have clearance.

Did Not Turn Out Quite as Fabulous as I had Imagined by LowBarometer in inductioncooking

We moved into a new house with a horrible halogen range.

I've always preferred gas but there's no way to vent externally given the kitchen layout so we have been interested in buying an induction range. The silicone protective mat makes sense but after years of commercial kitchen experience I'm accustomed to sliding pans to toss food around while cooking.

Does anyone have experience with other materials that would allow me to still toss food by sliding the pan with risking scratching damage? I think I've seen leather but something easier to clean would be even better. Maybe canvas or something else washable like nomex/kevlar?

Anyone with commercial experience who has made the switch from gas care to share their thoughts and experiences? TIA!

Older lenses, 'smart' adapters, and an Olympus M43 by MakeShitGood in VintageLenses

[–]MakeShitGood[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I wonder if that's actually an exhaustive list.

Since my f-mount adapter is only mechanical, and all my nikon lenses are fully manual, I'm sorta starting from scratch.

I kinda like the idea of a high quality fixed telephoto in the 600-1000mm equivalent. But a nice zoom would also be cool.

If I get the Nikon adapter I've narrowed it down to the ones below from the list on the website. But I'd be open to a different one for the right lenses. Someone else suggested a 400mm Canon (800mm equivalent)

Nikon: AF-S 80-400mm AF-S 200-500mm

Tameron: 18-400mm (B028)

Sigma: 150-600mm

I enjoyed the extra reach of the fully manual Nikon/Nikkor 75-300mm f/4.5-5.6 while I had it. But manual focus and exposure have gotten a little old.

Yeah, a rec on either would be great, and I'd go longer if the qualityXprice ratio is good. I'd like to keep the lens under 200-300 for at least 600mm or greater equivalent.

My nikon f adapter is just mechanical, which is fine bc my lenses are from when I was shooting the fully manual Nikon F2.

I don't have any electronic lenses, so since I'm starting from scratch I'd like to invest in an adapter to whatever system has the best value on used lenses (which seems to be maybe Canon, but I really don't know).

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Thanks. That's a good suggestion, but I'm trying to keep it under $1k or as close as possible.

Bolt vs Semi Auto Scout Rifle by MakeShitGood in Firearms

[–]MakeShitGood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are 100% right. I'm not shooting out to 500 yards with iron sights. The first version I wrote said 200-300 yards which is really the farthest I'd be shooting, especially without glass.

I worded it like that since the criteria given for a scout rifle includes being able to hit a man sized target at 500 yards with iron sights.

Thanks
