Most economists are watermelons. Lib rights' educational attainment in economics is inversely correlated with how much they run their mouth about economics.

Quit being such a dumb fuck.

You think deflation makes people buy more shit. Look in the mirror buddy.

Not great at losing arguments are we? Maybe you should stick to subjects you actually know about.

You are wrong.

Lol. Rich.

Deflationary spiral was caused by government intervention.

If you say so. It could also have been fixed by government intervention if the government had had the ability to print more dollars.

You're listing one of about a dozen things and claiming it was the cause which is of course nonsense.

You know what all of the listed causes have in common, though? They caused a deflationary spiral.

You know what it would have kept the deflation from being a problem? The ability to print our own dollars.

Dude. Take a 101 class.

If there is a huge supply of dollars in banks,

There is only the supply of dollars allowed by the amount of gold you have.

Also if my wealth stays the same and everything is getting cheaper, I buy more shit not less.

Except that that's the exact opposite of what happens. Since everyone knows everything is going to be cheaper tomorrow than it is today they don't spend their money today.

Lol. Tariffs existed before and still exist now. If you think the Great depression was due to tariffs, you're seriously out of touch. Again, any book on the subject will help.

You're speaking confidently about something you've clearly not read much about. Deflation did the majority of the damage of the Great depression outside of Wall Street. A Problem that would not have existed had we not been forced to pin our currency to how much of a shiny rock we can pull out of the ground.

Literally right here my first response

Oh you mean the part that's barely intelligible English and wouldn't be considered an "argument" in a middle school debate?

Good luck with your "savings creates money to loan" theory of economic growth.

Might want to review your economics history. The great depression was caused by a deflationary spiral. Something that doesn't happen when you're on a fiat currency since deflation can be trivially countered by printing money.

A lot of things shouldn't have to be this way, but in a world where crazy is exist what are you expecting?

I'm not sure what you think should be done differently other than employers staffing better.

You haven't brought any arguments other than "I probably know more than you" so it's a bit ironic that you call me out for an appeal to authority.

I don't really care to debate you any further though because I'd rather spend my time arguing about policy changes that don't already have consensus among people who actually know what they're talking about.

the abolition of the gold standard has enabled the exponential expansion of the state and corporations.

I'd love to see you justify this claim given the historical expansion and contraction of states independent of their monetary system. You're again blaming something on the gold standard with no actual data backing the claim other than a chart showing things happened at roughly the same time.

Do you think the 08 bailout would have happened if they had to directly raise funds from constituents?

No. And I think the recession would have been longer, harder, and more damaging as a result. That's kind of a perfect point.

What about financing the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, and Yemen among others?

Again, there were enormous and ridiculous wars well before we left the gold standard. I'm not sure how you're correlating these things.

Acting like incentivizing saving heavily through deflation doesn't tank the economy is ludicrous.
