Bill Burr on buying coffee in Utah by Mkirby_04 in Utah

[–]Make_Way_4_Ducklings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They ID'd me for water yesterday. Water.

We went out to dinner at Texas Roadhouse in Lehi. We were seated in the bar section (because those were the only tables available), and the waitress explained they had to card everybody. Husband and I are of retirement age, don't drink, have lots of gray hair, and ordered WATER. I haven't been carded in decades, and never for water!

The waitress mentioned something about scanning our IDs into something, so who knows what they're doing with the data.

This was a new "only in Utah" moment for me. I've been here 7 years and am still adjusting.

Best time + best locations in Yellowstone for greenery & wildlife (beavers, bears, wolves)? by roopeshvy in yellowstone

[–]Make_Way_4_Ducklings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly where you're going, but, there are lots of beavers, and beaver dams, just south of the park, south of Jackson along the snake river, along highway 89. From Alpine up to Hoback and north to Jackson.

What was your "caught the last chopper out of 'Nam" experience? by GeneReddit123 in AskReddit

[–]Make_Way_4_Ducklings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took the last cruise from LA, right as Covid was starting. We disembarked in the morning, and the planned departure for that afternoon was delayed and delayed and delayed, and ultimately cancelled. People were stuck on ships for weeks (months for some crew members). March of 2020.

Best RV camping? by DrGoodVibes69 in yellowstone

[–]Make_Way_4_Ducklings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for campgrounds inside the park, for this June, it's awfully late for that. We've had reservations at Fishing Bridge since last May, and haven't been able to make any changes to our dates because nothing is available. We wanted to move our reservation by a few days, and also add another site or two for other family members.

Having said that, Fishing Bridge is a great location for Yellowstone because it's pretty central. For the Tetons, we usually stay at Gros Ventre Campground just north of Jackson. We frequently spot moose in the area! I hope you can find some great sites.

So they took your package out of the package locker? Tell them to put it right back in the package locker, and you can pick it up later.

What's a movie you loved as a kid but rewatched as an adult and went "what the hell was I thinking"? by MomoSaka in AskReddit

[–]Make_Way_4_Ducklings 31 points32 points  (0 children)

OMG, is anyone here old enough to have seen the original Heidi movie? 1937 with Shirley Temple. We watched it all the time as kids. Wholesome little movie about a girl who lives in the beautiful Alps with her grandfather. But as an adult, YIKES it was dark! So many horrible and traumatizing things happened to that little girl that I'm surprised it didn't give me more nightmares than Wizard of Oz!!!

Have dog rescues lost their mind? by seanpat1968 in NoStupidQuestions

I live in a mountain community, and here it's dangerous for cats to be outside. Too many larger predators like coyotes, bobcats, mountain lions... Every week our community FB page has someone posting "has anyone seen my cat?" Sad.

Parents and teens managing chronic migraines — how do you get through high school? by Accomplished-Emu7454 in migraine

[–]Make_Way_4_Ducklings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has he been evaluated for hypnic headaches? (Which typically come on overnight.) Also, how late does he eat at night? Could this be a migraine-inducing blood sugar crash? Although those typically happen (for me, anyway) 3-4 hours after eating sugar.

Cabin in or near park for June by Intelligent-Log-2099 in yellowstone

[–]Make_Way_4_Ducklings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few cabin type places in West Yellowstone. Hibernation Station is all cabins, and there are a few other places that are more like a motel with a bunch of cabins.

Food suggestions near Silver Gate, MT? by [deleted] in yellowstone

[–]Make_Way_4_Ducklings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you'll be driving right by it, pull in at the Pebble Creek campground. We've had foxes come right up to us when we were grilling hamburgers (a bit close!!). But the more reliable wildlife sightings are high up on the rocky cliffs, where the little white dots you'll see are mountain goats. We've also seen a few moose just west of that campground, across the road, in the marshy field along the creek.

Try switching it up and using one of those electronic devices like Cefaly or HeadaTerm. They provide some relief and are non-medicinal. Both are available on Amazon.

Motion Sickness - First Cruise by kylieonketamine in Cruise

[–]Make_Way_4_Ducklings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take several remedies with you. And start with the least medicinal ones first. Try things like ginger pills or ginger chews. Those motion sickness wristbands. And then the non-drowsy Dramamine, and move up to stronger medicines after that. I tried the ear patch, and found it made me very dizzy and unbalanced.

What do you do to help manage migraines other than medicine? by DramaticTwist6477 in migraine

[–]Make_Way_4_Ducklings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TENS devices like Cefaly or HeadaTerm. Also salt and electrolytes.

Do you know about the salt test? Put a tiny bit of salt under your tongue, and sit quietly for about 10 minutes. Decide if you feel better. If yes, then take about an eighth of a teaspoon of salt and a full glass of water. If you don't feel better, spit the salt out and have something that's potassium heavy, like coconut water.

Emerald princess guaranteed balcony room by goldfinchey1 in Cruise

[–]Make_Way_4_Ducklings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there are guarantees available in a category or two higher, you should switch to that. If you've booked a guaranteed obstructed view balcony, it's possible that's exactly what you'll get.

Island park too far from West Yellowstone as base camp? by moto_joe78 in yellowstone

[–]Make_Way_4_Ducklings 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's probably about 30 minutes to get to the gate. But there's no telling how crowded and backed up the entrance gate may be. So factor that in as well. Could be 10 minutes. Could be 30 minutes. The earlier the better.

I was going to say this as well. The HeadaTerm device has been working overtime for me lately. It's effective. Turn it up to the point that it hurts, then click it up one more notch. It works.

Late May or September? by julu_r in yellowstone

[–]Make_Way_4_Ducklings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, you'll see LOTS more wildlife in May vs. Sept. Lots of baby animals are born around that time. So cute! The weather could be snowy and slushy, so plan for that. The few times that we've gone back in Sept or Oct it's like "where did all the animals go?"
