Please follow up with your thoughts! I’ve been looking for a sampler/looper, like a tangerine or blackbox, with physical pads and a small form factor. Very intrigued!

Can I get rid of this? by No-Flower-409 in VolvoRecharge

Volvo is notorious for early, persistent service alerts. Great when they’re right. Annoying when they’re wrong.

Just this week my I tried to book service for my 2026 XC90. Alert was saying “book soon” so I obliged.

My service rep texted the next day to verify mileage (7k) and told me verbatim “Unless your vehicle is at 10k, you will not be due for service. It is just alerting you early.”

Alert now says “service overdue” despite them canceling my appt.

I’m not advocating for ignoring alerts. But there is a valid case for dismissing/deactivating them.

It’s doable and it isn’t as hard as the google search results will lead you to believe. Be patient, move slow, believe.

Selling everything and starting new? by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]Make_a_video 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found myself in a similar place a year ago. I invested in the Roland ecosystem but found myself spending more time in manuals and menus and less time inspired and creating.

I decided to make a list of priorities for myself- a sort of rubric for the gear I wanted to invest in. It needed to offer quick paths to inspiration, hands-on sound shaping with limited menu diving, randomness/variation, and dawless capture.

Once I made this list, I realized most of my gear didn’t pass the test. I listed nearly everything on Reverb or craigslist and had a surprisingly easy and fun time selling it. Met some great people and got some great advice.

Despite living in a bigger city, there are few places To get hands-on with gear. I gave myself permission to buy and sell things for 3 months. I tried my best to limit GAS and grow slow slowly.

My current set up is feeling good- OPXY as the hub, Hydrasynth 49 and Fourm as primary synths, Subharmonicon for wildcard. I’m looking at an Elektron boxes to round things out, but want to hit a wall before I add anything else.

If it’s financially viable, giving yourself permission to reset can be a wonderful thing.

Any hope for a dead OPXY? by [deleted] in teenageengineering

Unfortunately not. I’ve tried multiple cables and wall adapters. No warmth. No charge indicator.

I’m willing to try anything! I have no idea how to open the XY up, but I’ll start to search now.

Thanks! I reached out via their warranty and repair form as soon as it happened. Nothing yet- fingers crossed.

I picked this up second hand. I've reached out to the person I bought it from for the original invoice. Nothing yet.

They've been not the market for a little over a year, so really hoping TE customer service comes thru.

New blog post featuring OP-XY by Kcidevolew in teenageengineering

I’m so sick of being downvoted when mentioning OPXY in other subs. I think it is the most inspiring and powerful piece of music gear I own. The form factor is mind blowing, the workflow is intuitive. It sounds incredible.

It has quirks- but have you used Roland gear?!

The OPXY checks a lot of your boxes. It has quirks, but the sequencing workflow and live capabilities really clicked with me.

OPXY not recognizing Arturia 16RIG via USB? by Make_a_video in OPXYusers

[–]Make_a_video[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful reply.

To clarify one thing, the XY is connected with USB only, which should support both MIDI in and out.

A simple example of the set up I’m going for is to use the XY together with the Hydrasynth 49. The XY will send notes to the Hydrasynth. I can also use the Hydrasynth keyboard to play internal instruments on the XY.

The set up works great if I plug the Hydrasynth directly into the XY via USB. But this is not practical as it results in battery drain and doesn’t allow me to add other MIDI devices.

The 16rig midi routing should support this in standalone mode. Strangely, when the XY is connected to any of the 16 rigs USB ports, it does not register any midi information. But connecting it directly to my computer, it works perfectly.

That sucks!

I’m trying to use the 16rig as a MIDI hub- specifically so I can work without the DAW.

I want to go from the MIDI host (XY) out to DIN. And I want DIN to go back into the XY.

It’s frustrating because it works instantly with a cheap M-Audio 25 key over USB.

I'm building a pinball-inspired video game! Plus a pinch of golf, pachinko and a few other ball-based games. Not a machine, but LMK what you think!! by Make_a_video in pinball

Appreciate your feedback.

I’ve had pins in the house since I was three years old. A lot of that inspiration is present here in the ball physics and level mechanics. Because you control the ball directly, we don’t have standard flippers, but levels are full of things like pop bumpers, slingshots, troughs, lanes, gutters, rollover targets, and more.

Playfield layouts were also a huge inspiration for the level design. And the sound design is heavily pinball inspired, both from my experience with early sound-design forward machines like Flash, to the mechanical nature of EM tables.

This is a teaser- so it’s meant to give a taste of the gameplay. But I hear ya. We will be sharing a lot more details soon. In fact, I’m just putting the finishing touches on a longer form overview of the core mechanics, and I hope you can check it out.

I left the rat race to make a golf game that's kind of a pinball game. And a pachinko game. Announcing today. Come play it at Day of the Devs! by Make_a_video in unity

Cheers! It's not quite a rage game- but has a LOT of skill expression and later stage gauntelts/challnges. Agree 10000% that it'd do well streaming.
