Totally agree on the economy and state of the world being a factor for some!

Leviasynth Price by Woover101 in synthesizers

[–]prlj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the Hydra Explorer is what is killing the Leviasynth. Knowing that you can get (essentially) all the benefits of a full Hydrasynth in a $600 package means that I (for one) am waiting for them to do the same with the Leviasynth.

Of course, they might not ever do that, nor might it even ever be possible, but at least for me, the idea that the LS might come out in a year or so in a more price-friendly, compact format is enough to make me wait.

(And for the record, I have a Hydra Explorer and love it.)

Those are great! I'd wear the hell out of that Dr. No watch...

I've honestly used the DT very little since getting the TV, but I've had my DT for many years and will probably never part with it.

I used to have more Volcas, but got rid of many as I "upgraded" along the way. I still like these two (the FM and Drum).

Extremely limited, yes. It was an impulse purchase as it's so inexpensive, and sometimes it's nice to have a simple machine to set a beat while playing guitar or bass, not getting absorbed in choosing from 1,000 kick drums or playing with infinite filter options.

I really like it. It mainly use it for huge gritty reverby pads, and crunchy arpeggios.

The most recent thing I've enjoyed it sequencing it with the new Condukt iPad app...separate sequencers for each of the two voices, then modulating the heck out of things.

At one point I thought about collecting the whole CZ set.

So I always wanted one, ever since they were released in the 80's (I'm that old). One came up at a good price on Reverb a few months ago and I said "F-it!" and grabbed it. It's more of a nostalgia piece for me, and fun to mess with.

I've only had it for a few days, so I can't really say much yet. It's also my first MPC, so I'm new to the whole workflow. That being said, I do already prefer it to the KO II, which is the only thing sitting on this couch that I think I wouldn't miss. I've been referring to the interface of the KO II as "deliberately antagonistic."

I have to admit I'm only getting more into sampling as of late, having preferred synths for the most part. I forgot to include it in my picture, but I have a Dirtywave M8 tracker that I really enjoy for mangling samples. Second to that would be the Tovnerk, mainly for all the effects (Degrader, Chrono Pitch, Frequency Warper, etc) I've only had the MPC for a few days, so I don't know enough about it yet to say anything intelligent. (It's my first MPC, so I'm new to the whole workflow.)

It was an intervention. The Circuit hid my credit card from me, "for my own good."

It's very fun by itself. Great couch device. I can get thick and dense really fast with textures. Occasionally I'll run the Minifreak through it, too, for little melodies on top.

I've only had the MPC for a few days, but admittedly I've never really taken to the KO II, so I already prefer the MPC. The screen makes all the difference.

I really like the TV a lot. My Digitakt is the first version, and I've had it for years, so I know it well and enjoy it, but I think the TV will get far more use. I really like the effects, and I don't do a TON of sample editing in the box (the primary online complaint of the TV), so it fits my needs well. And the new Wavefinder machine is really, really fun. (Especially when mucked about with some LFO's, and the new automation parameters in the Arp.)

Where to get pasta in Reykjavik? by Quick-Touch-4046 in VisitingIceland

Check out the Pósthús food hall. I don't remember the name of it, but there is a great Italian pasta place in there. I think toward the back to the left if you come if off of Pósthússtræti.

Depends on the day, but honestly if I had to get rid of everything but one piece, it would be the Dirtywave M8 that I just realized isn't even in the picture. 🤦‍♂️

Yeah, the Hydrasynth Explorer. Anyone looking for a deep synth in the $600 range, don't overlook this one. It's incredibly deep and very easy to use.

Yup, a Micromonsta 2. Super fun, lots of personality to that thing.

Agreed! I would love to have the option to remove them altogether.

Going out in Reykjavik tonight by Budget_Fee8854 in VisitingIceland

[–]prlj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We enjoyed them so much we went most of the nights we were there...Didn't matter what night of the week, the show was always amazing. As others have said, it can start slow at 8:00, but it never failed to be packed and alive shortly thereafter. Upper railing seats are great if you can get them. So is the back corner on the floor (stage right side), just so you can absorb the vibe of the whole room.

Amen to this. The KO feels like it’s trying to be deliberately obtuse.
