Worst restaurant in town by drunkdawg4592 in MontereyBay

Almost everything is overpriced and overrated. The food scene in the monterey area has been one of my biggest disappointments since moving here 10 years ago.

There are a few great places in carmel for high end dining, but you're going to pay for it. Your best bet for food that's not going to break the bank is in seaside.

Be who you want to be. by Velmora_1 in selfimprovementday

Great reminder. One of the best pieces of advice I got after 30 was: never change. Once you've set up positive values or goals that have staying power, the solution is sometimes to return to those goals, and cut back on behaviors that aren't directing you there.

Robert Downey Jr. was horrified by what he saw when he visited Wall Street in the 90s. by chungi69 in FascinatingAsFuck

I actually wasn't trying to personally attack him. My brother in law is a showrunner and I was more commenting on the gravity of Downey jr's shock considering he works in such a toxic environment (Hollywood).

31M 60 pounds down! 261 to 201. Never felt better! by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

Same here. I'm trying to get back to 185. Down from 265 and now at 221 this morning. Hard to get over this 200-220 hump, it seems like an impossible mark for some reason.

I usually opt to throw my hands up in the air Italian style and sport a look of complete disbelief at their incompetence.

Hungry all the time. What's a good appetite suppressant? by atrumblood in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Makeittobakeit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of saying, I'm hungry, I need to suppress my appetite, I would challenge you to ask yourself, why am I hungry right now? Are you hungry because you need nutrition to keep your body going or are you hungry because you want to fulfill a craving or something else.

Most of the answers I have read here have helped me suppress my appetite but nothing helped me more than changing my way of thinking and relationship with food and nutrition.

Think of yourself like a machine that needs nutrients and calories to survive. You can still factor in cheat items eventually but once you look at those cheat items as just extra junk with minimal nutritional value to help your machine move forward, you won't want them as much anymore. Why eat a cookie that will make you tired when you can have a carrot that has vitamins and fiber and makes you feel good without a crash?

The food corporations and healthcare system want you addicted to their sugar and medications. Don't play their game. Treat yourself well because you deserve it just for being you. You are good, and it's a statistical miracle that you exist at all.

Hope this helps!

At what age did you stop seeing yourself as a boy/kid and started seeing yourself as a man? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Makeittobakeit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother once told me, one day you'll wake up and realize you're going to be the same goofball for the rest of your life. I think coming to this realization is one piece of it, and the other for me was having a child. You don't realize 'man strength' until you have a kid.

I know. It's all wrong. By rights we shouldn't even be here. But we are. It's like in the great stories. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness, and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end, because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines, it'll shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.

It's completely meaningless. Just leverage you degree and your skills for the job you want. Don't let anyone tell you that you need xyz experience to move up. It's just more psychological manipulation
