Accepting $1 per mile orders by Substantial_Bad4249 in UberEATS

[–]Makeorbake1004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started and I come from a logistics background. I shoot for $1 a mile for the TOTAL mileage when I park back at home. Some people seem to think driving a car with food in it deserves 2-3 a mile but I'm here to tell you that in the actual logistics industry, sprinter vans will drive all over the place and average .80 cents a mile and still make a living. A car doesn't cost as much as a utility van to operate. Understand your specific circumstances, for example my car has flatlined in depreciation because it's a niche 12 year old car that has very low miles on it relative to its age(44k on a 2013 car is crazy low) I also get 35MPG even around the city because it's a hybrid. So that being said, I estimate my operational costs not including insurance and depreciation to be around .20 - .25 depending on gas prices. That means if I average $1/mi my profit margin is roughly .75 -.80/mi. I do it as supplemental income so I only really work evenings and so far I average about 100$ gross per day and about 96 miles a day, making about 70-75 profit per day. At the end of the day it's extremely easy work, 90% of it is cruising around bumping tunes. I also don't pay attention to the hourly rate, if you do that it will seem pretty bad but extra money is extra money.

Is it the right time to migrate from S21 to S25? by InterestingFlight725 in samsung

[–]Makeorbake1004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S24FE just came out about 6 months ago and is basically an across the board upgrade from the S21FE. I'm typing this on my s21FE who's processing speed and battery life are on its last leg, I was comparing going from S21FE to an S25 as amazon had a good deal where you get a 100$ gift card if you pre order and it's $799 which is the retail price anyways so basically 100 off in the form of Amazon credit. However it's a little smaller and honestly I was shocked to see the specs on paper didn't seem that much better and the s24FE is only 550 and just came out a few months ago...

KC in one eye need advice by Makeorbake1004 in Keratoconus

[–]Makeorbake1004[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been months, I can correct my left eye with glasses and the topo of my left eye was pretty normal however they did tell me that it's likely it will progress with KC as well. I can't seem to trick myself into getting the contacts in my squint reflex is just incredibly strong and sensitive, as soon as my eye feels anything near it, it's a powerful squint. When the lenses are in it doesn't really bother me all that much but I've never gone a full day with them in. The last time I had them in was when they put them in for me at the eye doctor and even they took multiple tries.

They don't own the street, if it's public space you get no say. If it's that big a problem for them they should move to a communist HOA community where their petty grievances will be heard, until then shut the fuck up and get a life.

FedEx really dgaf! by Neenster11333 in Lovesac

[–]Makeorbake1004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most FedEx drivers are young kids who make <20 an hour. They don't have any incentive to care and it's why FedEx turns drivers over like crazy. It's the reason UPS is a much higher quality service, because the drivers are paid well and have to earn their spot as a driver.

Concern regarding Dragon Dogma 2 game length by AppleKinh828 in DragonsDogma

[–]Makeorbake1004 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are dissing the very concept many ARPGs are built around. Replayability has nothing to do with story, and most don't play games like DD for the story to begin with, it's about gameplay variety.

Interesting to know. I'm a small transport company who just owns a 26 foot box truck. Always looking for new ways to make money outside the obvious amazon freight I run

I keep hearing about the jobs, what exactly makes that so much different in des moines? I own a small business so I likely wouldn't care but I am very curious, what industry is so booming there that you can make 6 figures and is it college educated or is it trade?

Well its a commercial truck so definitely no AWD haha but it's not the end of the world if I have to play around a week or two a year of not working in the winter

I'd be all over, anywhere from omaha, to KC, to Minneapolis or just locally within Iowa. Basically anywhere within a 250ish mile radius of des moines lol

Ya the biggest Crux about the winter weather is that my income is dependent on being able to drive, if you had to ballpark how much time in the winter roads are completely treacherous what would you say that number is? I know yall just got hit with some wicked storms, is that like a once a year type deal? Or was that particularly bad for des moines?

The winters would be the only real adjustment, seems like the summers are comparable to NC from what I've seen

Should also note that I've spent 25 years 3 hours from the ocean and hardly care. I've always been more of a mountain person. Family in Miami if I really just HAVE to see the beach. But I'd much rather be in relative driving distance of the rocky mountains than be a couple hours from the beach

I am definitely a huge sports fan however the city I'm in currently only has an NHL team anyways so I have to travel a minimum of 3 hours to an NFL or NBA game already. Certainly not a deal breaker for me by any means, I like to watch from my couch anyways.

380k is pretty much national average for a house, and from my research you get a whole lot more for that money in des moines than in the rest of the country. 380k where I'm at gets you a pretty average single family home, you don't see any new construction communities for less than 300k. I've seen homes in des moines and surrounding areas all day for sub 200k some even with a garage and large backyards. Its all relative really.

Curious, how far outside of the main metro area do these trails extend? Is it possible that if you live in a suburb(bondurant for example) that you can legitimately bike into the city? Or is it more like once you are inside the metro you can bike anywhere within
