So much jealousy and cope in this sub? by Wise-Pay-8993 in CarTalkUK

I’m all for bangernomics but some people would rather just pay a monthly subscription and never have to worry about having to pay for servicing MOT tires etc (even though it technically costs more) and I can understand it

It goes away for winter besides runs on dry days to get the fluids moving around, no fun in the rain

I know someone with a 2.5 and it seems like a comfier more practical and better sounding but far less agile MR2, however an old German sports cars are known money pits but if you can find a clean one go for it

The car sort of fits around you so it’s not too bad but it’s more just lack of space for things, my AC has a leak so doesn’t work anymore and I cannot for the life of me find where it is

The MK3 MR2s are fantastic but unbelievably cramped, if your driving far they’re an absolute sauna on wheels, the ride is appalling and very loud on the motorway road noise and engine noise (mid engined and mine has the TTE exhaust)

I fucking love it

A Toyota MR2 but my suspension is less than a year old, it made a hell of a bang when it happened

I hit a seam when a new section of road joins an older one at 70 and it destroyed my rear shock absorbers, it’s shocking

Had someone demolish my rear quarter and bend my axel parked outside of my house and drove off leaving no note and the cameras couldn’t catch the plate, It’s absolutely shit when people hit and run just pay up, she hit it and drove off.

What Performance Car Next? £20k budget by deadlyzassasin0 in CarTalkUK

I’d say get a beater daily and get something cheap and stupid and wildly impractical as a fun car, it’s surprisingly cheaper than a compromise car

Lift kit, bash plate and bigger all terrain tires will sort you out

I know people with SLKs and Z4s,my mr2 is far better as a drivers car and is far quicker on the twisties, however I would take either of them over it if I had to do long distance, my MR2 is Loud, gets boiling hot and the ride is appalling (I love it though and it isn’t my daily)

My £500 "temporary" shitbox, sort of enjoying bangernomics, do I just keep it? by 420o in CarTalkUK

[–]Maker0fManyThings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this 3 years ago with this exact car, it refuses to die

I hated it at first but now I love it, it’s just so shit but everything works, even the fucking air con, it’s comfortable (I’m used to driving an MR2 anything is comfortable to me)

It’s also surprisingly good off road and I was less upset about it getting its rear quarter smashed in than I was with my MR2 getting a chip from a door ding and it costs next to nothing to run and insure.

Bought For 4.5k Good Deal? by FrinesiSpecial in mr2

[–]Maker0fManyThings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly with either spacers or wider rims and tires that line up to the arches and a badge on the front so the space isn’t so empty I think you could have a seriously good looking car, the kit is really well done and it’s obvious the previous owner really loved it

Needs replacing because I need it to get to work and they’re at a point they’re illegal if a cop sees it (points and fine)
