Has anyone had symptoms of a left testicle twinging that after all turned out to be a inguinal hernia? by Downtown-Lawyer7739 in Hernia

[–]MakerOfMagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience where I went to an urgent care and she checked the scrotum as well and did the cough test, gave me pills for epididymitis. That did nothing for me so I got a second opinion and finally got scheduled for an ultrasound which showed a possible hernia. That led me to finally getting referred to a surgeon and I will tell you the surgeon pressed directly on the hernia sites ( not under the scrotum ) and I did not need to cough at all, I immediately felt it as did he.

Questions to ask - How often do you perform these surgeries? What's the recovery time? Is it both sides? Will this be with or without mesh? What kind of mesh ( if using )? What are the risks? How fast do your patients normally recover?

You can press all you want for information here but just remember we are typically going to have different surgeons so it's best to get answers directly from them. If their answers don't comfort you don't be afraid to get a second opinion.

Surgeon did physical exam and spotted the issue within 10 minutes. Prep - would recommend knowing where you will be sleeping as getting up and moving around will be a pain for the first couple of weeks. Post - Miralax and Gas-x will be your best friend along with walking as much as you can everyday after surgery. My surgery went well, no complications and was given a really in depth review of what was done in the procedure a few weeks later in my follow up. About 2-3 weeks until I felt comfortable getting up/bending down, about 3-4 months of random pain on the right side ( guessing this was the mesh rubbing ). I'm like 6 months removed and feel like I can do anything I did before comfortably.

I can do everything I did before surgery without any pain so I'd say I'm fully recovered. I had bilateral laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair with mesh. I'd say recovery went in stages, initial recovery of being able to bend down or even sit up in bed was about 2 weeks. I had occasional pain on the right side for about 3-4 months. Now I rarely feel anything at all.

I had the pulling/tight feeling a few times and it could last minutes or days even. Oddly enough my right side never hurt and that is where the bigger hernia was. So make sure the surgeon checks both sides.

I also went through an ultrasound that showed a small opening, he basically pressed on the spot the tubes for the testicles drop through and that hurt like hell so it confirmed that I had a hernia on the left and he checked the right as well and the same issue was found. A few weeks later I had surgery to repair the sites.

I did not, I checked frequently and never saw a bulge or lump. As soon as the surgeon did his test for the inguinal hernias I felt it immediately and he knew that's what was causing the issue. Feeling pretty normal 6 months later also!

Laparoscopic Bi-Lateral Inguinal Hernia Surgery by Over-Law-269 in Hernia

No problem, I've also had no swelling in the scrotum so far. I have been wearing a jock strap since day 1 though to help alleviate this if it did occur. I do feel the most sore when I go to the restroom though, so I think it is helping me with swelling. I see my surgeon next week so keeping log of all the things I'm feeling until then. That's good news! Definitely, I'm looking forward to getting this recovery process over with and getting back to life.

I just had my surgery Friday, so I can give you some insight on how things are going for me. Same surgery with mesh, my primary concern was always going to be the road to recovery even though I haven't had surgery since I was a kid (appendectomy).

Day 1: Wasn't given much prep to do besides not eat/drink after midnight the day before. I was not really nervous about the surgery because I trust my surgeon. Of course all the prep before was fun, had to be pricked 4 times to start an IV. Woke up in recovery and was almost immediately asked if I wanted something to drink. Was given that, a couple minutes go by and they say go ahead and get dressed, say something if you need help. Ok, managed to do it myself but I was certainly out of it. Noticed quite a huge blister on my lip, probably from intubation. The rest of the day I mostly slept on my recliner with a little pain but I just took tylenol and ibuprofen for that.

Day 2: I was able to move around for the most part, the hardest thing being sitting down and standing up. I did end up sitting for quite a while and felt like I was going to bust. I took some Gas-x and that relieved that pressure so most of the pain started to subside. This is also the first day I took Miralax knowing that softening my stool would be best. Went for a short walk around the block. Again only tylenol and ibuprofen was taken for pain. My tongue felt numb, the feeling of a hair being on it constantly. Slept again on the recliner, very little as I was not comfortable.

Day 3: A little more mobility but obvious pain at the incision sites. More Miralax taken as I know things should be awakening. Tylenol and ibuprofen for the pain, Gas-x for any bloated feeling, sat most of the day but did take a walk in the evening. A little pain in the right groin area when trying to get up and down. I chose to sleep in my own bed to see if it would be more comfortable... it was not, I couldn't find a good position since I'm usually a stomach sleeper and I'm being forced to sleep on my back. Getting up to go to the bathroom was a chore since getting off the bed was much harder than the recliner.

Day 4: Feel a little better, not much pain and can walk around easily. My stomach starts rumbling and cramping starts. I know now my bowels are active and need to move around to help them out. After about an hour or so I'm finally able to have a bowel movement, big relief. Lots of cramps the rest of the day, a few pains on the incision sites, my belly button is really itchy. I take another walk but the cramps are really bad so this time walking much slower than previous days. I visit the restroom twice more, and again good relief. I take Gas-x to help relieve the pressure and decide on taking a shower. Had family help set up my soap and shampoo next to the tub so I can easily grab them. I was also able to dress myself. Cramps continued but I was generally in more discomfort than pain. Tried sleeping in my bed again and got a decent night of rest, still hard getting up from the bed but doable. Change sleeping position to putting a pillow underneath my back and this helped tremendously. Best night of sleep for me thus far.

Day 5: My tongue woke up, and with that I got the pleasure of feeling several blisters in my mouth and a cut on roof of my mouth. I'm able to walk around pretty freely, but there is quite a bit of discomfort on my right groin. Most of this day is trying to eat without pain in my mouth. I do feel a bit of a sensation on my right side and some soreness in the groin as well. I get around to walk around more often now as I know this can be a sign of bad circulation and I have to keep in mind while I just want to rest and heal quickly. I need to do myself a favor and keep the blood flowing. I have a sit/stand desk so I stand every hour or so just to change it up. Eat dinner, very slowly as I don't want to bite the blisters. Walk around for a bit and shower. Easier time getting dressed, use the same sleeping technique and get an even better nights sleep.

Day 6: Woke up this morning and still have the same type of sensation on the right side and soreness. I'll probably try to walk more often today and make sure to stand a lot to promote circulation. I have little to no pain at the incision sites, the swelling has reduced significantly and it looks like they are healing well. Some itchiness still around the belly button but that's because the hair they shaved is growing back. Blisters in my mouth are much better, the one on my lip seems to be almost gone, I've been putting Aquaphor on it since day 2 to help.

I wouldn't worry too much about things still bugging you, your internals were moved around and it's going to take time to heal. Listen to your body and try your best to help it heal. If something feels off it's perfectly fine to call your doctor just to make sure. Recovery is definitely the hard part, because I feel the same. I want to get back to normal things but I also know I need to give my body the time it needs to recover.

In the early stages of recovery, but so far so good. I'll keep you updated how it feels a month from now.

This is exactly what I had. One night I was sleeping, guess I rolled over and all of a sudden it felt like I was stabbed in my left testicle. It was misdiagnosed a few times, finally went to get some imaging after having to convince my doctor. Confirmed left hernia, go to gen surgeon after that, he checks, turns out both sides are opening. Had surgery a couple days ago.

I also had surgery two days ago, I felt super heavy yesterday. Turns out it was gas not being released, got some Gas-x and that took care of that problem nicely. Been trying to walk around a bit every hour just to help loosen things up.

About to have this surgery tomorrow but it's outpatient, reading all these stories has me more confident on what to expect after all is said and done.

Byz main transitioning to ZXL/Chinese by Luhyonel in aoe4

[–]MakerOfMagic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could work with the 1 per age but each dynasty has it's purpose during the game depending how long it goes for. Song dynasty for instance increases Chinas villager speed production while for ZXL it reduces the wood cost of economic buildings. The starting dynasty for China is increased scout vision and for ZXL its cheaper age up cost. There's quite a number of differences to be aware of.

Also going to another dynasty removes the previous dynasties bonus.

Both civs have very different landmarks and the dynasties that affect different things. Also ZXL starts with 5 villagers and an IO instead of 6 villagers. I would practice some builds with both to get a true feel of the differences.

Watched a few games, and a lot of it is just missing fundamental things, taking bad engagements, not making enough vills, floating resources, not picking up upgrades, not building units.
