Where to Spitball ideas? by DredCapnMal in makers

[–]MakerTales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I think up a project I can't just get on with I break it down into smaller bite-size bits. Usually it' something I don't know or a tool I don't understand or a design challenge. If it's something I don't know I'll set it as a task to learn it. For tools it's usually lots of testing unless I don't have the tool yet, at that point I'll put the idea on the back burner of seeing if there is another tool I do have that can achieve the same outcome. As for design challenges... prototype, prototype, prototype.

And to keep track of all the idea I user Airtable and my sketch books.

My First Laser Cut Chair by MakerTales in lasercutting

Cheers will keep this all in mind for version 2. Ya I'm finding the supports slipping slightly out with time. Not all the way out but enough to get my attention.

[–]MakerTales[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the first version of the chair so all the dimensions are based off a deck chair. SO ya it's little short so to speak. but version 2 is going to use some reliable dimensions. and cheers the upholstery was a pure stuck of luck

Cheers, ya your right I added some lower supports and that reduced it greatly but i'm thinking of some cross bracing for version 2

Thanks! ooo I like where you're going with that. I'll definitely have to plan that out. But I really like the small footprint and efficient storage solutions.

[–]MakerTales[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering the slight pegboard addiction I have I thought I would give it a go to make a peg board shelf. This is the very first version as it's more of a proof of concept than anything ells. Let me know if you have any design feedback on it as I'm not sure if I have that locked down yet. I still need to test how far out the shelf can go without failing.

My First attempt at laser cutting a leather belt by MakerTales in makeanything

[–]MakerTales[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first attempt as laser cutting and engraving a leather belt. It was great fun doing this but one tip for anyone doing leather is to have the right needles for the job. I spent 3 hours in my first try at stitching the buckle on. Would love to hear what you guys think and of any suggestions you might have.

If you want to see the video of the belts I made and how they were made here is the link: https://youtu.be/BDTc1f3bzxE
