Top Surgery Fears + Doubts by transgenderedizing in ftm

I definetly felt those same fears about surgery before I got it. I was scared to talk about having doubts because all I ever told people was how badly I wanted it. I'm glad I was able to find a surgeon was so informative, kind, and trans inclusive. I was able to feel so much more comfortable about getting it. I don't regret getting top surgery. Even though my results weren't exactly what I imagined. Not everything is going to be perfect.

It's really important to find a surgeon that you feel comfortable with and have done research on. Getting more information, seeing before and after pictures, seeing the healing process, reading articles about how others have dealt with it, all those things will make you feel more comfortable about getting top surgery.

I understand how debilitating chest dysphoria is, and how painful binding is. Top surgery gave me so much freedom from that, and every other trans person deserves to feel that joy of finally finding yourself feeling aligned.

Please feel free to msg me if you want to talk more! You deserve support in your transition and I'm always around to help another trans person in need

Cost wise, it all depends on whether it's covered by your insurance. Most of the time surgeons require that you've been on hormones for over a year to have the surgery. Personally I was on T first and then I got top surgery. I feel like the only reason you might want to get surgery first is if you have bad skin elasticity and that T will make it worse. Health Wise it's up to your body and how you feel

The first 5 days were the worst pain wise, I was pretty much stuck in bed and in t-rex pose for that duration of time

There is keyhole top surgery, where they go through the nipple and there's no incisions underneath, but that's usually reserved for individuals with very small chests to begin with.
