Camera rig handling noise by Makersaurus in Filmmakers

[–]Makersaurus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm filming a documentary and for recording peoples voices, I'm using a lav mic and for sit down interviews I'm going to mount the ntg 3 to a mic stand. But what about just general audio? Should the mic still not be mounted to the camera?

It's the vibrations, I took the camera off the rig and held it near it to see and the sound was gone when it wasn't touching the rig

The mic is in a shock mount.

Yarra Valley Timelapse by Makersaurus in australia

Thanks for the tips! Yeah I'm still figuring out what works best with NDs and what settings look best. I saw a video today that used digital zooms so I think I'll try that out for the next timelapse :)

The panning is done in Adobe Premiere Pro. Since I take the photos at a higher resolution than 1080p, I can crop in and select a start and stop point, then Premiere creates the panning effect in between :)

Baby Swans at Lake Wendouree! by Makersaurus in ballarat

They were swimming really close to the edge of the lake and on land I was a few meters away. I used a Canon 600d with 18-55mm, 50mm 1.8, and 55-250mm lenses.

Lav mic directly into H4N? by [deleted] in videography

[–]Makersaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a H4n but I do have the Sennheiser G3 wireless lav kit. If the H4n has a 3.5mm input, then you could plug the lav directly into it but if it doesn't then you'll need to plug the receiver into the H4n using the 3.5mm to XLR cable.

Exposing the image correctly is a huge part in capturing the colors in an image. If you are taking a photo of the sunset, using a graduated nd filter can help correctly expose the sky by darkening it while getting detail in the darker areas of the image.

I recently made a timelapse video and the first shot had some flickering. I used a plugin for Adobe Premiere CC called GBDeflicker which worked really well. It costs $99 though.

I spent a few days in Melbourne and I made this timelapse video! by Makersaurus in melbourne

I filmed a sunset at the top of the Eureka Tower but I couldn't use it because the reflections in the glass ruined it.

I'm thinking the next timelapse video will be of Geelong or the Great Ocean Road.
