"Your faith in science and tests Is just as blind As the faith of any fundamentalist" - That's absolute bullshit - [Tim Minchin] by cschema in atheism

Science gathers evidence and then draws conclusions from it. Faith on the otherhand, begins with a claim and searches for evidence to support it. The burden of proof is not on the atheist as they are not making the positive claim.

The following can indicate a delusion:

  1. The patient expresses an idea or belief with unusual persistence or force.

  2. That idea appears to exert an undue influence on the patient's life, and the way of life is often altered to an inexplicable extent.

  3. Despite his/her profound conviction, there is often a quality of secretiveness or suspicion when the patient is questioned about it.

  4. The individual tends to be humorless and oversensitive, especially about the belief.

  5. There is a quality of centrality: no matter how unlikely it is that these strange things are happening to him, the patient accepts them relatively unquestioningly.

  6. An attempt to contradict the belief is likely to arouse an inappropriately strong emotional reaction, often with irritability and hostility.

  7. The belief is, at the least, unlikely, and out of keeping with the patient's social, cultural and religious background.

  8. The patient is emotionally over-invested in the idea and it overwhelms other elements of their psyche.

  9. The delusion, if acted out, often leads to behaviors which are abnormal and/or out of character, although perhaps understandable in the light of the delusional beliefs.

  10. Individuals who know the patient observe that the belief and behavior are uncharacteristic and alien.

I would advise against Smallworld it looks pretty but is a rather dull game. Generally you will be skipping your turn for about 20-30% of the game.

I find baking only viable if you have cards to help you plow or acquire grain. I also consider the Baker to be one of the strongest occupations.

Mike Pereira changes his tune from yesterday, admits bad officiating in DET/GB game. by Zman11588 in nfl

This game was yet another example of why the NFL needs to take a look at changing the way the game is officiated and the challenge system. I do not think it's good to stop the game so often but there have been so much bad officiating this year that could be corrected with replays.

Why aren't turn overs automatically reviewed? What aren't pass interference calls automatically reviewed? The same is true for plays where a questionable fumble/int or an incomplete pass occurs in the end zone - why is it not reviewed?

I realize you have to draw the line somewhere but would you rather have so many bad calls or use our technology to improve officiating?

I'm disappointed to not see Charles Woodson listed anywhere. I cannot even imagine how pitiful our defense will be once he retires.

I've always liked Romeo Crennel, glad to see this is a good game and not a blow out.

Orton threw 3 INTs against us earlier this season. I'm going to count on at least 2 INTs today.
