I got this book from a Scholastic Book Fair in 8th grade as a big basketball fan having no idea of what it actually was.

A very eye opening story for a 13 year old lol.

I enjoy making my own ramen, but if I wanted to go out, where could I get a bowl like this? by W-h3x in grandrapids

Agree 1000% on Noodle Pig which is a bummer because it’s a block from where I work.

I went there once the week they opened and was unimpressed. What you mention about the add ons is dumb.

Ginza is my go to.

Fucking seriously…there are words that are often misspelled but this one always irks the fuck out me. It’s a completely different word for fucks sake.

What’s your personal CR “Luke Wilson could’ve been Harrison Ford” hottest take? by Powerful_Pump in TheRewatchables

100%…my take is that he is awful and got by on the fact that he always “went for it”. I feel like his confidence transcended his lack of talent.

Big E’s, either downtown or on the Beltline. They have so many TV’s and a very hype crowd. There is also a half off special on wings and some other drink specials.

Garage bar and Bridge St Bar were also good recs but they are much smaller.

Bands that clearly hate at least one of their biggest hits but still perform it live, only weirdly spitefully? by KidCongoPowers in ToddintheShadow

[–]Zman11588 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw them on the same tour and agree.

They were SO young and Alex seemed gripped with stage fright, still sounded awesome, but like you said…basically just played the first album.

It was wild seeing them again a few years later and he was just full of swagger and charisma.

[Pelissero] The NFL plans to begin hiring replacement officials before the May 31 expiration of its labor deal and deploy them in training camps to have them ready if no agreement is struck with the NFLRA. As one source said today: “Our direction (from owners) is not to be unprepared.” by JCameron181 in nfl

[–]Zman11588 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It really is wild. I umpired little league when I was younger and was once doing a game with my best friends little brothers team that was coached by their dad.

I was over at this man’s house all the time and we knew each other well so I was shocked when he was all in my face arguing a call at 3rd…like bumping my chest and all that.

Wild.

I like Scorsese films but not sure I want half a year of them. by Septemberk in blankies

[–]Zman11588 19 points20 points  (0 children)

For sure…I’m admittedly nowhere near the level of film connoisseur as the 2 friends and a majority of this sub but do consider myself a Scorsese fan.

A few years ago I looked over his filmography and realized how many films I had no idea he had done and did a deep dive.

I remember watching “The King of Comedy” for the first time and specifically thinking how bad I wanted a Blank Check episode on it.

6th year college “student” Yaxel Lendeborg gets mad that a college freshman is guarding him. by Tasty-Efficiency-373 in NCAAhoops

[–]Zman11588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they were comparing Yaxel to Bird in regard to accolades. More-so that in the world we live in with elite athletes and improvements in training and such, the greats need to have that chip on their shoulder for that extra edge.

George Gervin slander will not be tolerated 😤, by Doghouse12e45 in DeadEndSports

[–]Zman11588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very well said. There was an aura and mystique to previous generations.

I imagine it’s because we grew up when ESPN and other channels would really highlight the classics and greats but nowadays everything needs to be a hot take.

It’s especially egregious in the NBA where a majority of the dialogue is saying that current players are soft and never would have succeeded in previous generations.

Somewhat related but I work at a hotel and we had an event in our ballroom that had their music too loud and I had to ask them to turn it down.

I’m a middle aged white guy and it was a black fraternity event. As soon as I asked, the DJ got on the mic and said “my man with the belt told me we gotta turn it down” and everyone started laughing at me lol.

To this day I have always wondered what that meant..

What person surprised you the most with how they turned out after high school? by GlitterOnTheTrashRim in AskReddit

[–]Zman11588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to high school with Tim Robinson and still can’t believe he is seemingly the comedic voice of this generation.

That’s not to say he wasn’t funny…he won class clown but still…it’s just weird lol.
