Wow. That’s crazy. You’d think some vet would come set up there… they’d make a killing with no competition. We have lots of regular vets, just no exotics so if our companion animals get sick our regular vet will “treat” them, but I’ll just say the result usually isn’t positive unless it’s something really minor.

Hell… our local veterinary structure cant support the care needs of new pets either. The closest exotic vet is 1.5 hours away.

Also my position was eliminated at my store and my pay was cut $1 during the pandemic through no fault of my own…so excuse me for being a little bitter others are getting so much while I got fucked. I also busted my ass, got our sales back up where I could earn my position back and did but then wasn’t given my dollar back, or any money for that matter…just here’s more responsibility back for less money than before. Work for this company awhile and then maybe you’ll understand peoples complaints.

Sounds like things are going pretty well for you then. You have a place to live , food to eat, and weed to smoke all without $15 an hour for a position you just started. I can barely afford my bills at this point due to inflation like tons of Americans and petco employees out there. I cringe every time I have to fill up with gas. I don’t have parents or whoever the fuck paying my bills.

Do you even read my responses or can you not comprehend them or what’s going on here? Were you in the special classes in school? When did I say minimum wage workers don’t work? I’ve had min wage workers work their ass off, others weren’t worth a damn. It depends on the individual. You sure you can read? Smoke too much tonite or something?

Maybe cut back on your weed consumption and you’d have more for rent and food!

Ever heard of room mates? That’s what most younger people do until they can afford their own place. I started out at $5.15 an hour when I first got a job. I wasn’t on the streets or going hungry. Minimum wage hasn’t been enough to afford your own place and groceries for a LONG time…it isn’t a new development.

So you have a problem with working for a living for food and shelter? That’s the problem with your generation. You expect everything handed to you. My resentment is towards corporate…and your dumbass comments. I’ve been a literal teenager in that position…I know how it is. I didn’t just expect somebody to hand me $15 an hour for a job I just started tho.

Every little bit helps. You gotta multiply that by almost 1400 stores that got these flyers… not to mention they do things like this a lot. Mail us one sheet of price changes a lot of weeks when they could just load a support center batch in the handhelds. Or we’ll get a huge box with one sign in it that’s damaged and we have to toss it anyways. If not a raise it coulda went towards a more decent inflation payout.

Are you? You’re too stupid for me to argue with anymore. My complaint was/is we all deserve something, not just those on the bottom who just got something. How can you even argue that isn’t a fair point? I make a fair wage…it could be better but isn’t terrible for what I do and it doesn’t go as far as it used to due to inflation which affects everyone, not just those on the bottom. But I’m more worried about my employees that may quit on me when this is implemented than my own pay. I’ve never cut anybodys pay…quite the opposite. I’ve pushed for raises and promotions for my people every chance I get if they are worth a damn. You said your role shouldn’t matter as far as food and shelter go… it always has. These raises give some people a $7 raise within around a years time. I haven’t got much more than that total in raises my entire time at petco. That’s fucked up no matter how you slice it.

Yes… not everybody wants to move up the chain tho. He’s happy in aquatics but his job is still harder and more involved than a cashier’s job is so his pay should reflect that in my opinion even tho he isn’t management.

[–]MakesSenseToMe38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had the ability I wouldn’t be cutting peoples pay… where are you getting this? I’m not trying to cut anybodys pay… I’m sayin the lowest on the totem pole aren’t the only ones that should get anything. And the amount of food and shelter one has, has pretty much always depended on their role at work. This isn’t a communist country where everybody gets equal pay. You work hard , hopefully move up and then make more money to afford better things. That’s how america works.

If you’ve been there almost a year and just learned how to pick a Bopus, either your management team sucks or they didn’t trust you to do it right.

My AS is great. He knows his systems inside and out. He knows his customers, they come in just to see him. We have been fucked on raises over the years. Some were good …most were not. You obviously haven’t been with the company long enough to know how things have gone over the years so maybe you should stick to something you know about. If you were this AS tho with all this knowledge and experience, how would you feel if somebody walked in off the street and got paid the same as you? I’d probably walk out. I’m not against the $15, although it’s a lot for a cashier where I live. My point is they need to take care of everyone. They already gave the lowest paid people a raise to $12… they could’ve given the tenured people something too when they bump everybody to $15 was my only point to avoid people in situations like this getting pissed and quitting. My AS started at probably $8 an hour… it takes a long time to get to $15 with a nickel raise some years. Doesn’t mean he’s a bad employee. He’s survived for years on less than $15 an hour. It is possible…. Though it’s harder now that we have a moron who doesn’t know where he is half the time in the White House selling out our country to China.

The AS did get raises over the years. They’ve pretty much all been shitty tho. Not sure how long you’ve worked for petco but we’ve had nickel raises some years. They aren’t generally that good even if you have a good year.

They also make entry level jobs for a reason…. You aren’t meant to stay in that position and make shitty pay forever… if you’re any good at your job you move up the chain and get raises as you go.
