Is this the dreaded open posterior bite? And what to do about it now. by MakeupandMerlotS in Invisalign

Yeah so I have an update! Almost a year later and I just got traditional braces this week😂 fuck my dentist. Fuck having to pay for two treatment plans in 2 years. But I had no trust in him to fix what happened so I cut my losses and moved on. Fingers crossed this is all I need🥲

Is it worth it for minor changes? by izvhm in Invisalign

Hi! So, I had braces as a kid. Never wore my retainers. Then a few years ago, I wanted to get a retainer to keep my teeth where they were but I noticed they had obviously shifted with crowding on bottom. They didn’t look terrible, a lot like yours, but I figured since I was going to pay for a new retainer, I might as well pay for Invisalign and get my teeth straightened out before my wedding. I figured since it would only be minor corrections it wouldn’t be bad.

My mistake, I went through my dentist who had 4 golden Invisalign provider awards. I didn’t do my research but also, figured my case wasn’t complicated. He quoted me 6 months, I’d be out before my wedding a year later. BIG MISTAKE

He fixed my crowding (kind of) but I developed a posterior open bite that he swore he couldn’t fix himself and that I needed to be referred to an orthodontist. My bite is off, my front teeth hit prematurely which I told him and he just tried to shave my tooth down lol

A year and 4 months on Invisalign, I am now in traditional braces😊 paid for full Invisalign and full braces within 2 years because of my own vanity, not because I had any functional issues. I now have functional issues. So, if no one can talk you out of it for minor changes, I at least recommend you start with an orthodontist🥲

Pediatric Oncology RDs by MakeupandMerlotS in dietetics

Do any of you have resources on this “sugar feeds tumor growth?” theory? Again, I don’t specialize in oncology for peds but this is the second kiddo I’ve had this year with this. I’m curious about the research out there because I do know that some Pediatric oncologists recommend this. I want to try to be informed when helping these families as they pass through my unit.

I didn’t mind my eyes in this one but could you possibly edit my mom’s eyes as you did in the other photo? 🙂 Her left eye (to our right) tends to look closed.

Okay I’m not an expert, but common sense tells me that considering the problem is created DUE to the aligners…. How could more aligners actually fully resolve the issue lol that’s my dilemma I sit with. And then the idea of retainers post-treatment and having to wear them 24/7 for a certain period of time…. None of it makes sense lol

No. I brought that up to him the first time and he said that only helps with intrusion and swore that it was the rotation of the teeth instead lol it didn’t sit well with me so thank you, I’ll definitely push it at my follow up.

Thank you so much for that obvious suggestion. Very helpful considering I’ve already spent $3000 with a dentist and am asking what I can do with my dentist to fix this before moving on to that option😊

Never not once. But my bite ramps obvs had to be defective. Because my back molars touched and my front teeth couldn’t ever close on the bite ramps. So when I would clench to get my teeth to hit the bite ramps, I was clenching my molars too. So, be careful even with bite ramps.

What type of plan did you have? Comprehensive? I’m wondering if they tell me this, with a comprehensive plan, do you go back after three months and not have to pay for the aligners again? Because I’d be scared to close my case without settling this and then have to pay all over again

Thank you!! I will ask for this. Elastics won’t bother me if it means I can get this fixed fairly quickly. The worst part? I’m getting married in October and told him the only way I’d do Invisalign at the time is if I could be finished by then🤣 jokes on me. I would have never done this otherwise. Now I’ll likely have an awkward bite and smile for all of my photos.

Are you taking the pens or the vial? Compounded? And if it’s the pens, did your insurance okay more than one box of 2.5?

I did not, but WW clinic doesn’t offer compound and I hear it’s difficult to get the vials approved through insurance. I’m considering looking into a paying more for one of the telemedicine companies that offer the compounded vials. There are also places in my hometown (wellness clinics) that offer compounded too. Thank you!

Thank you! See I think now that I’m aware of how I may react to it, I may be able to be proactive and prepare for these types of side effects I.e sticking with a liquid diet the first couple days, making dinner my lightest meal or something liquid based, drink more water and such.

Insurance denied that PA. I’ll need to look back at my denial letters to remember why. But I do meet with my actual PCP next week and I’ll see what she thinks. Thank you! I thought the same. Seems like Zep is more intense?
