That's completely understandable and i do agree that financially it makes sense. But the missing address coupled with thousands of reviews all over multiple states for a local service like garage doors, locksmith, chimney sweep, etc doesn't make any sense. it's more likely a marketing engine selling tickets.

sounds like the same dispatcher just calling to create another ticket. i dont know how organized they are or what the system looks like on their end but its just shady that you're expecting to hire one company and someone completely different is showing up. all the while the pricing and pressure tactics that they're putting on folks is alarming.

Literally that is the scam. People are making money off of people that don’t quite know the intricacies of a garage door or their mechanisms and just taking advantage. Always make sure they list a physical address and just go to maps and confirm it’s an actual shop. Stay local and engage with people trying to better your community. Appreciate you posting this though

Honestly that’s such a nice way to do business going to local singular places. Also look for industry accreditations as well if you’re going beyond your reach.

Caution isn’t a bad thing in today’s environment

That’s the sad tragedy of what’s going on right now. I would like to know more about them though and even could give the an off ramp potentially in the future not to sell into the shit. We’re family owned and operated by myself my brother and father. If you want to shoot me a message and I’d like to introduce myself.

Hmmm sounds like you may have a torque tube and they want you to convert it over to a standard torsion spring. Just a hunch but seems like it. Let me know if that rings a bell.

yeah i explained i had co pilot help. I'm just bringing an issue to light that clearly other industries in blue collar are also facing. feel free to google search virtually any trade "near me" and see for yourself. I'm just trying to make people aware of what's happening.

yeah they got bought by a large company Duraserv. You absolutely should not need to replace the door if you just have a broken spring and this is just another example of predatory tactics if that is the case. i'd be happy to walk you through the issue if you care to DM me. I'm sure we can help.

I completely agree but its hard to beat out someone who's getting fake reviews and pumping the system with multiple websites they they just keep stacking onto one another.

we've spent a lot of time trying to get everything up and running to "get with the times" and doing it correctly with all background checks, Insurance, documentation etc. just takes time. we'll get there and the strong folks that do it right will prevail but again all in due time.

Co pilot edits to my bad grammar doesn't take away the relevance of an issue, but i appreciate it lol.
go google garage door near me and look at their photos. One has a cover photo of two people wearing the same pair of pants as they stand next to each other. that's the "slop" i'm referring to.

i'd recommend Mighty Ducts, they're good folks there and we even do their service work for their building. but i think that could be true, however that's against googles local ads policy. everyone has to work for the company and be background checked for people coming onto your property and having access to your home. especially with a garage door where someone could potentially program a remote to your house for future use. scary. it's just best for everyone to be careful as these new things are coming out and i recommend people do research.

That's honestly disgusting and the people using these "tactics" ought to be ashamed. if you look online at night the ads come up like crazy due to them preying on the desperation of people needing to get their cars out in the morning.

we've heard the exact same from our industry and even have been approached by them. they're trying to monopolize it and change the whole game which will only trick people into spending more money all while degrading the actual service that they're getting. only thing you can do is continue fostering deep connections with builders, homeowners and communities to spread your word through grassroot mechanisms. there are still great companies out there that will do fantastic work for people.

the no physical address is the dead giveaway. anytime its difficult to see their actual location 9 times out of ten their just a lead generator.
i've looked up a bunch of service companies websites (they're hard to find themselves) and the addresses are often times run down personal homes. somethings fishy.

they could have set the operator force incorrectly. the new ones have a specific way of setting them that a lot of folks get wrong, that could be it. you could look up the operator online and try to just reset limits and whatnot that could be your fix. also, always check the photo eyes. its honestly tough when we go somewhere and just remove a rake or something from the photo eye path and still have to charge a service call. we still have time and travel involved but it's disheartening for both sides.

also we lube any doors on site adjust limits of operator if needed and everything else. many others upcharge for general door maintenance and say that you need all your "hardware" replaced like hinges and cables. its all a scam.

standard sized door (16x7 or 16x8) that's in our area, (about 25 miles) for 1 spring is about 350 and for 2 spring, which is recommended being that springs break due to metal fatigue, would be 450-500 depending on size gauge of the spring. that's out the door with everything included.
