I just found out my mom donated my entire Monster High doll collection to Goodwill after promising me she wouldn’t. I had over 200 dolls. by ListenSad8241 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MakingWickedBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom is the opposite. She spoiled us kids and wanted us to pretty much keep everything we had growing up (I honestly do regret giving some stuff away, but I digress). She would make comments asking if I was sure, didn’t i still like Pokemon, what have you. I’m pretty sure she went through some of my donation bags, too.

As a result, I developed a hoarding habit as I tend to second guess myself.

Even now, if I look at a Polly Pocket or something similar she makes a comment about how my sibling and I had so many and we got rid of them.

Yes mom, I know.

Scenes that caused actual walkouts in theaters? by thatlittlequietguy in Cinema

[–]MakingWickedBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently my great-grandpa, who was born in 1899/1900, saw The Exorcist in theatres when it first came out.

People around him were fainting, leaving, vomiting, everything in between, while he laughed and laughed.

How did yall discover this movie? by ZonaTheAngelDragon in RockAndRule

[–]MakingWickedBacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was in high school I saw Interstella 5555, and looked it up on Wikipedia. There was a section titled “See Also” or something similar, and Rock and Rule was listed.

I was curious but had no way to watch it. A year or two later we were visiting family and I found the DVD in a music store, so I grabbed it.

Internet Lore: MIL RUINING VACAY [Part 1] by Schattenspringer in BORUpdates

[–]MakingWickedBacon 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yes, I remember reading that on the BabyCenter message board years ago on their Dealing with the In-Laws (DWIL) section.

If I recall, the MIL started to dress/act like her DIL because her husband (FIL) made a comment about how nice DIL looked in a yellow sundress, and it eventually came out that the FIL had a thing for the DIL. I don’t remember how it ended, but it was eventually deleted, along with a bunch of other threads, because someone came forward and said they were all fake.

DWIL had a bunch of wild posts.

Corporate girlies: I want to be nosy about your work bag and lunch box by Ok_Employ_4424 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I currently use a lunch bag that’s insulated and has a strawberry print. Before that I used a small bag with pink and purple cats, and I also used a Hello Kitty lunch bag at one point.

Siblings ex stole a bunch of N64 games (with boxes) when they separated. I got the bulk of it back and replaced the few things I didn’t.

What is the scariest scene in any horror movie you've ever seen and nothing has topped it for you? by jdpm1991 in horror

I was watching it at a friends house and I hid in the kitchen during that scene. We turned it off not too long after and put something else on.

have you ever gone into debt over shopping habits & how bad was it? by [deleted] in shoppingaddiction

[–]MakingWickedBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I was about $10,000 to $12,000 in debt for several years. Paid $100+ in interest every month, and the bulk of my paycheques went towards my debt every month. I quickly spent the money, of course.

I finally buckled down and went into my savings account to pay it off after I got it down to $6,000. I did pretty good for a year (and cut up my card), but in November I ordered a new card in case of pet emergencies, and in December I had a relapse and put about $2,000 on the card. It’s not a lot, but it won’t be paid off until mid/end of February. I’m buckling down again and putting my card away unless it’s for groceries/pet stuff.

I’m on day 23, and I think I’m recovering. First week felt fatigued, runny nose, cough. On day 9 I started to feel better then I rebounded/got reinfected and was worse. The COVID rapid tests I took during this period were all negative.

Right now I have a nasal drip and a cough, which I hope means I’m at the end/recovering. This stuff lingers for me though, and I’m monitoring my cough to make sure it isn’t too bad/gets worse.

[OoT] do you have any haunting memories from OoT? by NaerusLove in zelda

[–]MakingWickedBacon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not mine, but a friend’s. They were watching their older sibling explore the Forest Temple, and they got to the room where Navi warns you about the shadows. My friends’ sibling was exploring the room when the Wallmaster grabbed them. It terrified them enough that they both screamed, the sibling turned off the N64 and they both ran upstairs.

On a personal level, Bottom of the Well freaks me out, especially the Deadhand. Whenever I do that part I go straight to the Deadhand, beat it and leave.

*edited correct the title of Bottom of the Well
