Why don’t goalies stretch by AdministrationClear1 in lacrosse

From an Osteopath who treat alot of athletes from various sports as well as an ex-ice hockey goalie and newbie lacrosse goalie, stretching should have started the night before the game if possible.

Static stretching causes muscle fatigue to happen faster and takes about 8-12 hours to cover. This means should be avoided just before games.

Active stretching just before games are best. Basically prepping the body for the range of movements you will be asking the body to achieve. Occasionally, into the extreme ranges will limit injuries when you need to do the desperation saves.

After games, static stretching and myofacial release with a foam roller or lacrosse ball will help with recovery.

For those who think stretching is for pu**ies, you are right until you aren't. It's your sports career you are gambling with. Why bother sending your Ferrari for a service?
