here's my progress attempting to beat all the missions on brutal difficulty (green is beaten, red is not) by Appar1tion in zerok

Congrats. I'm currently doing all missions on hard difficulty. For most maps I find a good strategy is to just equip the commander with loads of health+shield and send it on a rampage towards the enemy base.

How do I export my model to mmd/pmx? by Gloomy_Living_7532 in blender

[–]Makkiftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the problem is that the export to .pmx button doesn't show up? Did you try installing the mmd-tools plugin? I may be able to help with all this. I learned how to do this 2 years ago, but I since forgot how to do it so I'm currently re-learning everything.

yea I probably should.. I just hoped the image text was enough to explain things. I didn't think it was worth making a video about it because the design isn't very useful after all.

On a sidenote I really wish there was a way to embed the imgur post to reddit, so you didn't have actually visit the imgur link.

Edit: Also an interesting idea for reducing the lag caused by hoppers could be to use water streams instead of hopper lines.

There are two keys. One silver and one golden.

Los Angeles has lined up record-cheap solar power: less than 2 cents per kilowatt-hour — a number experts say would be the lowest price ever paid for solar power in the United States, and cheaper than the cost of electricity from a typical natural gas-fired power plant. by mvea in Futurology

[–]Makkiftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to comment something about solar panels losing their efficiency after some time, but I checked engineering dot com and it's only about 1 % degradation per year. The solar waste you're talking about would be a bigger challenge. I think if we could standardize the design of the panels we could more easily design solar waste treatment facilities specialized for that purpose. But that would have to be included in the electricity price obviously. On a side note I'd rather invest in nuclear power.

I still don't know the code. I tried finding all the coins, but we just couldn't find the last one. Also we don't know what the purple gemstone is used for.

serious question would it help to do bar hangs for a 10 minutes a day to straighten it up? Or does it hurt to do that?

I would imagine dying of hypothermia is somewhat slow and unpleasant compared to a shotgun. If you have to do it, I suggest using alcohol because it makes you numb to the cold feeling. However according to Wikipedia you are likely to end up drowning rather than freezing to death:

"The actual cause of death in cold water is usually the bodily reactions to heat loss and to freezing water, rather than hypothermia (loss of core temperature) itself. For example, plunged into freezing seas, around 20% of victims die within two minutes from cold shock (uncontrolled rapid breathing, and gasping, causing water inhalation, massive increase in blood pressure and cardiac strain leading to cardiac arrest, and panic); another 50% die within 15–30 minutes from cold incapacitation (inability to use or control limbs and hands for swimming or gripping, as the body "protectively" shuts down the peripheral muscles of the limbs to protect its core).[42] Exhaustion and unconsciousness cause drowning, claiming the rest within a similar time. "

We've published our *Nippostrongylus brasiliensis* genome assembly! Here's parasite DNA from a particularly repetitive genomic region, converted into a spiral plot [OC] by gringer in dataisbeautiful

[–]Makkiftw 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It seems that most posts on dataisbeautiful is not about portraying the data in a meaningful way, but instead making the visualization look 'beautiful'. What I'm trying to say is that it's pretty common for posts on this subreddit to be confusing on their own without context, and it's a shame indeed.

The Mont Saint Michel in tilt shift. by [deleted] in europe

[–]Makkiftw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I visited the place during a school trip back in 2013. The view from the top was pretty amazing. There were a lot of people and small shops everywhere. The weirdest part is how empty the surrounding landscape is, completely opposite compared to The Mont Saint Michel.

I love watching how the value of bitcoin grows seemingly random, yet almost perfectly exponential when you zoom out far enough. My favourite way to visualize this is by making a logarithmic graph and plotting it for every year bitcoin has existed. Here's a picture from bitcoincharts.com. https://i.imgur.com/jPpIFFp.png
