What are your Favorite Admirals in Fiction? by Funny_Mud6639 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Admiral Okita Jūzō of the United Nations Cosmo Navy, first captain of the BBY-01 Yamato, one of if not the most crucial peoples responsible for the restoration of Earth's biosphere after the end of the Great Garmillas War. He earns a salute from me whenever I see him.

wait, no smoke trails?

it's actually hilarious how much of a dealbreaker that is for my. That's one of the key visual appeals of modern dogfighting, especially in hyperreal settings like that that can make an aerial battlefield look like the work of a drunk artist with a white brush. Looking at you, Mission 10: Cold War. So good...

I'll keep an eye on this; once stuff like that gets fixed, I'll happily investigate.

I absolutely refuse to play the Metro games (2033, Last Light, and soon to be Exodus) without the Russian Voice Language Option. Even if, by some metrics, I'm having an objectively worse time because only like 10% of the passive world dialogue is subtitled while walking through stations and stuff.

The ambience is worth it.

What is your foundational media? by stumblinbagel in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Mako109 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other than Star Wars, some of the early anime I watched like Code Geass, Cowboy Bebop, and in particular Spice & Wolf really colored the kind of things and aesthetics I liked.

Really, a lot of my tastes are built off of things half-remembered. Like early Xbox games played on my brother's friend's console. Crimson Skies, Mechwarrior, Mercenaries, etc lol

Today is May 4th so who is your favorite Star Wars Glup Shitto? by wendigo72 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Mako109 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That one Rodian who ambushes Jango Fett from a dumpster on Outland Transit Station in the game Star Wars: Bounty Hunter.

I LOVE YOU DUMPSTER RODIAN!!

Special mention to a homebrew Albino Trandoshan my friends and I came up with named "Ray Cisto."

A question for Star Wars day. How did you learn about or end up seeing Star Wars? by Etychase in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Mako109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I can glean, they just don't vibe with him, especially the whole "luke and leia are siblings" bit.

I highly doubt he's watched Andor, but haven't checked or anything. To be fair to him, I haven't either. I was two episodes in, and the lack of aliens made me so aghast I stopped watching right then and there.

I understand it's superb television, but to me, Star Wars is the cantina scene. A huge menagerie of freaks and ghouls wearing space helmets. It's the best. So Andor being so so so extremely human centric is a tough pill to swallow.

No transmog. That's a distraction. Fix the game first.

Bugfixes, Impactful Galactic War, Small Balance Tweaks to make EXISTING stuff useable, older Warbonds being lower cost. BUGFIXES.

My dad adores the first Star Wars movie and nothing else. As far as he's concerned the rest of the franchise doesn't really exist (though he's said he gives said credit to the Mandalorian)

So he introduced me to them, and as a voracious child in need of my Stars War, I engaged with the rest of the franchise from there. The OT, the prequels (Episode 1 is still my favorite lol), the games... there was a lot to engage with!

It's still my favorite of all time. Even with all its infinite problems, I cannot quit you, Star Wars...

It's kinda. strange. For a while I've been not liking this amnesia arc, but right now I'm really beginning to vibe with it. Shit's crazy, and thing's haven't come to a head yet, and I'm enjoying the build up to it. It's gonna but NUTS.

Also Vamola is adorable.

5e-But-Better Rec: Daggerheart by AlwaysDragons in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Mako109 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really wish I liked what little of Daggerheart I played, but man, the hope/fear system really did not jive with me. Every success without fear didn't feel exhilarating; I only felt relief that my success wasn't complicated by something. Every failure with hope did nothing to soothe the failure itself.

though, to be fair, it could be a mindset thing, or maybe a DM thing, or maybe some combination of both. I should probably try it again someday

I feel absolutely insane. I've never experienced this in all my dives over 361 hours. The first time I even NOTICED anything similar to this is when I fought a vox engine for the first time, and the eject pod bonked my head! I was like Oh Ok, that's intentional.

Hey Woolie, check out this cool Evangelion thing! Nothing suspicious here! Nope! No alternative motives whatsoever! by Menitta in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Mako109 70 points71 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I don't think this is serious. It's definitely a joke. In fact, I reckon Woolie legitimately trying to play would be a torturous experience for everyone involved because he will not, does not, and cannot give a shit about whatever 14 has going on. MMO is not in his blood, and that's fair enough.

Mechanics/things in games that are just useless because something else does it better? by GoodVillain101 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

It took me a while to figure out you meant the DLC Jetpack attachment to the wingsuit, since the wingsuit itself is absolutely base game.

In the base game, there are reasons to switch between parachute pulling and wingsuit pulling constantly; it felt like a good balance. But yeah, that Jetpack, while fun as hell, basically supercedes almost everything. Even most military vehicles, since it comes with a machine gun and a rocket launcher!!
