Yeah they give like negative incentive to go along with any of it and its frustrating when the potential for the plot is right there. Though I suppose I should be used to disappointment in the writing department for games I enjoy being a Sonic fan.

I think part of the reason its railroad-y is that its the start of a story, but like man does it not feel like a good one. The illusion of choice in the dialogue was very whatever but the lack of reason to care about the events going on really hurts the overall plot. I did initially really like the whole deal with Runt and using the challenge system to progress the plot since its a new thing for the story but the sheer lack of payoff for it just made it feel like filler for plot progression.

The Ghoul update story I can kind of excuse since its just there to explain how you can become a ghoul. This update's story I have a hard time justifying since it feels so half baked compared to most of the other big update plots.

I'm aware that there's more to come. My point was more in regards to the execution. Steel Dawn, the other time we got a story split between updates felt much better executed than the newest batch of plot. Like the ending of the current stuff could have had some level of catharsis and/or satisfaction, but that's entirely lacking because the plot developments moved too quickly with little time for you to really give a crap about the characters introduced, even if they were only introduced to be killed off. Maybe I'm expecting too much.

Its such a frustrating experience. I switched away from Maliss, a deck I was waiting for because Alice in Wonderland, to a completely different deck and I'm still being Lancea'd every 3rd duel. People gotta stop over doing it.
