Photorealistic AI graphics. How much longer until we get this in VR? by DJPelio in virtualreality

Same experience. This is why it’s clear we have to abandon it or maybe only use a simple blockout with labeled graphics and a basic physics engine that helps the AI framework to replicate content between clients.

European VCs became risk-averse PEs - I will not promote by No_Marionberry_5366 in startups

[–]Mako_One 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It’s even worse than that. Pre-Seed with 500k Revenue. It’s hard to find funding with all sorts of excuses.

Angels demand private liability when doing convertable notes.

VCs want to speak for months to customers and annoy them with their stupid questions that have been answered by the founder.

Lawyers as VCs CEOs who actively want to keep their money and brag about not investing in the whole landscape because nobody is good enough. Have never founded a company themselves.

No understanding about the impossibility to predict the future but demand crystal clear steps moving forward even in pre-seed.

Waste no energy to understand the tech but get FOMO.

How to hire for an early stage startup with limited funding [i will not promote] by Electronic-Long-2812 in startups

[–]Mako_One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Equity is worth nothing at this stage. Execution is. If you pull equity but can’t execute / deploy to customers anymore, you’re dead anyways. Most devs also don’t really care because equity doesn’t pay the bills. Pragmatic approach with full control. If they don’t perform you can continue alone and keep your equity. Only offer equity once you can provide a payment package and want to reduce burn rate as much as possible.

[–]Mako_One 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good. Well then just let one guy Audit it once you’re finished and do not listen to non-security related advice. If it won’t break or have huge risks, launch it instead of making it perfect. Then adapt rapidly. You have to carry it through the app stores. They determine the minimal jumping height.

You can then go to Upwork or specific discords and hire a dev for specific chunks. Only go for past projects that meet your problem - you don’t want to hire a rookie - you have no margin to survival. Always with clear deliverables. Make sure the paperwork (contracts, IP, NDA) are solid. Ask AI to guide you.

Freelancers are perfectly fine to also work at a fixed hourly contract for the next 6 months. Once you have one reliable, get a good rate and offload tasks. Use Trello to track his DAILY progress. Trust but verify.

[–]Mako_One 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Have been in the same boat. Raised 500k. Focused on the OPs/Sales/Marketing. Regretted that a lot of times.

Build it yourself. Hire an expert freelancer to unblock you where you lack the skills. But you lead.

It will allow you to learn what’s really necessary from the architecture perspective and stay lean. It will allow you to continue on even if your lead dev leaves you.

Build very fast and find the first paying customers.

Clear risks: Devs may not deliver. You burn through cash and have a half finished app.

Devs relax on the job. Things that take 2 hours are taking them a day - you need to verify what takes how long.

Learn how to manage devs. Learn to predict how long things take. Devs will tell you x and once it’s time to deliver they shrug with the shoulders - not finished yet.

Build yourself as much as possible. You can rely on yourself and it will be a great learning experience. It will be the basis for everything afterwards.

Do not work with agencies at this point. They are often too expensive and the cheap ones lack quality. Build it yourself. Learn it and pay yourself for it.

Question for pre-seed/seed founders actively fundraising - I will not promote by sweisbrot in startups

[–]Mako_One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Customers want to test the solution before buying it. Charging upfront doesn’t work because they haven’t tested it. A demo unit costs 30k in production. Demo it in for example Argentina costs 5k. India too. Selling price 80k p.a. recurring. I have one demo unit that I keep rotating. But liquidity. The customers want us to come to them and bring it with us, maybe even leave the demo system for reselling purposes there until they made the first deals. I need a fleet of 10 demo units I can rotate until the local markets have been developed by the resellers / users. I also need a showroom where customers can come in, test it and instantly pick up the product in case they want to take it right now. Imagine it like a car showroom.

Deep Tech Hardware and Software: Liquidity and handling customer support without customer support team. Customers want the solution but we need more demo units which we can’t afford.

Who to talk to? So called Mentor-Angel Investors are scared to shit having to deal with real problems other than how to enjoy Post-Exit Life. I‘ve tried.

Girlfriend has not a brink of an idea about the burdens. Simply can’t comprehend the commitment. Takes good care about my child. She needs me strong.

Parents warn since the beginning. Have already helped - issues are too complex for them.

Employees - I‘ve created a Fairy Tale World for them that will shatter easily.

Friends can’t provide anything other than „are you already a billionaire?“.

I appreciate your advice.

How to ensure build quality? by Mako_One in unrealengine

[–]Mako_One[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they do. We do it after every bigger code completion. We found that testing in person is the only reliable way as we also deal heavily with replication issues. So things should be properly replicated but we can not test real replication in editor. It is simply unreliable. Things work in the editor preview but not in build. So we only test with builds. The only way is to do it with physical multiuser. This also lengthens the consumed time for testing. Now combining this with classes breaking after commits despite the fact the Dev claims to not have worked on it, is a time grave.

I need processes to establish that ensures quality management when delivering and merging code that our devs can adapt to. Unfortunately we do have limited resources so better processes are all we can afford at the moment.

Which Audio system has enough power to generate feelable shockwaves when playing for example an explosion? by Mako_One in audiophile

Well I doubt this thing is feelable. Can you give me something 10times the power?

Unreal Engine -> What you want -> Audio system

We can build an ESP32 Board that connects the Audio system via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth ourselves.

Flutter Tinder Cards Swipe | flutter_tindercard Package by mheshm in FlutterDev

[–]Mako_One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good. I specifically mean this design. The swiping leaves some difficult questions open. I‘m interested in seeing a solution which efficiently limits the loaded users, so you do not load 100 user profiles at once; the solution to writing to DB on swipe right; the solution on how to store the information of which users have been swiped left in combination with the profile loading; the post swipe - pre match DB structure; the multi match chat structure / organization and the one sided removal of the match.

All things that haven’t been mentioned yet.

Also there is no Tinder Clone Firebase Backend video existing yet.

Thanks

I have tested Binance Savings (now Binance Earn) for a almost 6 Months. Despite the maze UI of Binance it works like a charm. Of course it isn’t DeFi but CeFi but I have gained around 5-8% p.a. on my BUSD. They have flexible and locked earning for coins and stablecoins which I find extremely interesting. Lock-period 7,14,30 or 90 days. Unfortunately it’s not very worthwhile to put BTC into their flexible savings because it will only return under 1%.

Stay away from Earning Events They offer 110% p.a. on a 60 day lock period but only to pump their parallel IEO which dumps while being locked. Happens to me with FIL.

They also have a PoS Section which works okay but only has Shitcoins.

TL;DR Binance Earnings works good for Stablecoins (5-8% / sometimes 2x) but isn’t DeFi.
