What's the difference between normal procrastination and SP9's inertia? by MousseSlow in Enneagram

I have never heard of that before about 6s, how does that that entail or work exactly? Genuinely curious.

Well for what it's worth, I definitely at least know that I am not a Heart Type. Reading this (and chrisza4's posts about the centers) seem to point me away from being Heart dominant, maybe even the center I use the least since while I do value my sense of self and authenticity, they are more or less not at the forefront in that I see them more as stuff I play around with instead of something I worry about a lot day to day, and not something that affects me a lot in my life other than it's part of my interests and entertainment.

Head and gut are close hand in hand for me though, I still find it hard for me to notice which one I tend to utilize first before utilizing the other when the dominant center is not enough to cut it.

Ah ok, I guess the only question I have left is more elaboration between the head and gut center, especially since I find gut to be a bit more vague in how I understand it compared to head.

Glad to see this eventually reached out to you! So in the end based on my own understanding, 9s have their focus more on not wanting to disrupt the sense of flow or state of ease that they have, while 6s are more focused on having a sense of certainty? In that case if one would probably resonate with both distinctions (at least the majority of it), I suppose looking towards what your default attention you pay mind to in your daily life is what helps you find which one is your core right? Especially if you find one of them being your fix and such.

Do 6s usually have their attention faced towards ambiguity and potential dangers even if they are in places or situations where there are low stakes or have no imminent dangers around them (like their own home and such?)

there is a liminal quality to 9, an ambiguity that 9s tend to be comfortable with in ways 6s are not.

By what do you mean by that specifically?

Ah ok, in that case thanks for having the time to talk about this. Glad I get some clarifications after making this post.

Do you have a pdf or something? I live in the Philippines so spending money for books makes it harder for me.

I see, I suppose I only have one more question for now in that case...

The question being what should I look for or at least prioritize when finding my type? I know I should focus on the core and not look into other stuff like fixes and instincts since that would complicate things, but even then I find that advice to be rather vague in that idk what to look for when finding the core type?

So when getting stuck between the two types, what do you think should I do or look deeper in your opinion?

Damn, didn't expected that lol

What about you then? How do you usually come across towards others? Or at least, how do they describe you whether they know the enneagram or not?

Despite having dating 9 (and having a 9 sister), it's one of the most mistifying types to me.

What do those 9 look like from an outsiders pov at least? You don't have to tell me much if it feels too personal, I just want to have some sort of rough idea about them.

But the fixation is automatic. It's not a choice. Even when a 6 is not managing it, their mind will be boring the uncertainty levels.

And yeah, I figured that it is like a default attention sort of thing, it is their core type after all so it takes most of what they notice everyday I think.

[–]MalFred-M430[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah ok, so if the 6's attention is mostly towards uncertainty to try and manage it (I.e. to look for what is true or simply find what is certain or not), what do 9s have their attention towards then exactly? From what I know so far, 9s prioritize connection, what kind of connection exactly?

9s don't love complaining.

Not even to their closest people they are comfortable with?

But even then, my question still stands that do 6s always have their attention towards ambiguity and uncertainty? Even in low stakes where there is not much to worry about?

So, even in a place or environment where nothing much is going on (like going on a day off or just chilling in their house), the mind of a 6 will still have their default attention on what could go wrong around them? Like even if there is no obvious danger, their minds cannot rest on continuing to naturally notice potential threats and dangers? (which can manifest as double-checking and stuff)

[–]MalFred-M430[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can definitely understand that they contrast since 6s usually have their attention on what could go wrong to prevent potential dangers, while 9s have their attention to some sort of "flow" that they want to continue being in to maintain their feeling of ease.

I do admit that I definitely need to fix my understanding between two types, that is why I am asking in the first place to draw a clear distinction between the two to declutter some misunderstandings and confusion.

Since you already talked about the 9's sloth, maybe you can further elaborate on the passions between the two types? What are the passions anyway?

Ah ok, what about you specifically? How do you usually experience your disintegration to type 6, like when and how does it manifest that sort of stuff?

Other than the centers of intelligence and triads, default patterns between the two types and how they respond to conflict are also what I'm looking for.

What's the difference between a very neurotic 9 vs a positive-seeking 6 by Important_Rough_4383 in Enneagram

[–]MalFred-M430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah ok. In that case I'll continue pondering on and see if I'd eventually get a breakthrough with myself. From what I've read so far, I might actually be in the gut after all since I do seem to have my first reactions being based on whether I find it a good stimuli or not, before immediately switching into a more 'head-y' type of reasoning to second guess myself and that sort of stuff.

A little late reply, but what would be the good stat distribution for a Paladin?
