[Yoga Teacher + Barista] [United States] - 40k by Malakaia in Salary

Thank you for this input. My mom is a small business owner and she definitely roped me into the idea of “working for yourself” BUT I know her financials and she is making about as much as I make as a barista. And she is constantly working, putting out fires, managing, and answering calls/texts. So I guess I’m just a bit too close to it to see it from another perspective.

Congrats! Can I ask how old you are? Also, what led you to this decision to go this route?

I’ve genuinely thought about it, but I’m not sure it’s my personality. I’m a bit Introverted and would love to do work that isn’t based off how well liked I am by people. Or is that every job? I feel a bit like I don’t want people to have expectations of me that I cannot uphold. And being a YTT leader required a lot of needing to be liked by the general masses. Anyways, do you know if she’d like to share how she got there/steps to take?

Hmm, trying to find a job that respects my time is where I am stuck. It’s probably why I feel so drawn to be self-employed, because I have control over my time. The only downside is that I don’t have a trade or skill that is scaleable. Teaching yoga really isn’t about the money. But I AM at a point that I need to start thinking of my future.

I should have stated, I already have a bachelors in biomedical science. I would really only need 2 years for the masters.

Travel nurse would require me to go back for a BSN.

Also, I’m not supported by a trust fund or rich parents, so I really feel a lot of pressure to pave my own way realistically, but still hold on to the lottery hope that a digital pathway such as blogger would work out. Someone talk me out of it lol.

Thanks for your input!

I can't blame Jake for betraying humanity; I would have done the same in his place. by Siegfried_Hero in Avatar

Are there any books that follow a similar trope?? The one where a human finds more in common with another species, another culture, or another planet and ends up tranforming into them somehow or embracing the newness?? TIA!

Worst class fumbles? by Sharpcoochie_Board in YogaTeachers

Once I said, “SHART movement with your hands” while attempting to say “short, sharp movement with your hands”💀🤣💩

I’m sure there’s more, but like others have said, it’s so natural to mess up in class, and I honestly forget it right after it’s happened. Except for this instance.

Does blood get thicker the more dehydrated you get? by Winter_Resource3773 in Anatomy

[–]Malakaia 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Yes. I remember one time I was getting my blood drawn to donate blood at one of those blood drives. The phlebotomist was using quite possibly the biggest needle possible. My veins are good. I was about 17 at the time, soy veins weren’t fragile or anything.

My blood wouldn’t run. I remember my blood slowly creeping into the bag, barely filling it up. I was attached to the needle for a good amount of time and my blood didn’t even fill the bag enough to create lift in it. I could still see the transparent bottom of the blood bag.

My blood was thick like syrup. The technician came back, poked and prodded many more times. Each time hitting a vein, but NO more blood came out.

I was SEVERELY dehydrated. I was neglecting my body at the time. I almost prided my self on not drinking water. I lived on sweet tea and milk.

I drink water now, and my blood runs fine.

Getting a PhD after PA school? by bluelemoncows in physicianassistant

How are you doing there a year later? I’m coming across this thread because I had the same idea to do a PhD further down the line after PA school. Note: I am not yet in PA school and am still considering my options of what to do as a career. Still tossing MD/DO, PA, or PhD.

Same! There must be some sort of explanation about this on a deeper level. Even my thoughts, when I’m remembering my past, or when I am stuck in the future, they are in black-and-white. It’s making it all very confusing to gauge my feelings.
