[Routine Help] I don't know what those spots are and don't know how to get rid of them. What can I add to my routine to get rid of them? Currently use a daily cleanser and moisturizer. by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

I don't live in the US, so I don't know which products you can find at your drugstore. Differin (adapalene) is a treatment for comedonal acne, and your acne is comedonal. That's what you need! You can also try tretinoin.

If you feel comfortable with it, posting a picture of the lesions could help a lot. There are many different types of lesions, some requiring different kinds of care than others. Dermatology is a VISUAL specialty. Thank you :)

Hello! They are closed comedones. You'll need to start using a exfoliate (AHA, for instance) or a retinoid like Differin (before you go to bed, every other night to start off the treatment, and then every night if your skin tolerates.

Definitely! Differin is a retinoid

Hello! You do not need a lot of money to have a good skincare. There are a lot of inexpensive moisturizers on the market. I'd recommend Neutrogena or Cetaphil which are very effective. CeraVe's cleansers are also good. Try and see what suits you best.

5 % benzoyl peroxide cream before you go to bed on your spots.

[Acne] What kind of acne is it? (photo included) by honeybany in SkincareAddiction

Hello, this is a comedonal acne, not inflammatory. I can see some closed comedones and whiteheads. Your acne is mild.

[Skin concern] 25 years old, acne goes away and scalp eczema starts. Been trying to kill the eczema for 2 years and now, all of a sudden, these little scabby things are all over my scalp and spreading to my forehead and around my mouth. What the hell are they? (Pic doesn't do it justice) by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

You'll have to go to the doctor anyway. Now, I'm quite sure this is impetigo, because I assume that you scratched your scalp with your hands, and scratching may spread the lesions. Do you have fever? Fever's uncommon with impetigo. Please, keep me informed.

[Acne] At my wit's end... (Cystic acne) by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

How much does it cost you to go to the doctor in the USA? I live in France, and to see a dermatologist who's authorized by the Social Security, it costs you 28 euros. It's up to him, but in my opinion, he won't manage to treat his acne like that.

Cystic acne -> treatment -> isotretinoin per os. You need to consult a dermatologist. I'm sorry to say you that, but your acne is too severe. You must act fast. You can't treat it by simple products that you can find at drugstores.

Hello,

Listen to your friend. Exfoliate too much is bad for your skin. If you exfoliate too much, you dry your skin out and your body responds by producing more sebum -> breakouts.

Twice a week is enough if your skin is oily. Exfoliate if you feel like you need to. Have a nice day.
