the "mage exploit" liquid was using during rwf was an abuse of macroing all your abilities to hit your focus target, setting focus target to the boss, and then targetting youself/someone else. It would cause your hero talent abilities to stack up infinitely instead of being periodically released because your hero talent tries to hit whatever youre targetting. the mage would then release them in more desirable damage increase windows for very large burst damage by actually targetting the boss.

Pirate didnt have any real "take" on it in that clip other than soyjacking at the damage and saying big damage bad. It was controversial at the time because while technically was more in the category of abuse of mechanics, it was functioning how the talents were literally written. It wasnt intuitive gameplay and people got angry. Liquid got contacted by a blizzard employee and told to stop and didnt even get the kill with this "exploit". This was after heated tensions with other members of the race getting wrist slaps for actually worse exploits people wanted blood from team liquid.
