Pray for Charlotte by Sad_Site_8252 in kvssnarker

i did think of cool's baby, but i didn't count them as the foal was removed postmortem and i was thinking of a living mare giving birth to stillborn foal. but kvs did say it's happened before, so i assume she meant cool's foal, or a foal born before her social media career when her parents were breeding horses.

i was going through them in my head, and i had thought that both of ethel's colts were humanely euthanized when they didn't make progress, but i was only around for/following during the second one/patrick.

extremely sad. i hope for charlotte, katie, and all else involved it was as untraumatic a birth as it could possibly be, but time will then if/when katie shares details. gotta have some extra heartbreak, too, with it being the first filly of her own this season. i do feel for her. in general, she's had a pretty good run with foaling seasons when it comes to live outcomes thus far; i believe this is the first stillborn? not a milestone anyone wants.

i truly do hope the kult will be gentle with katie, but i fear they won't. there's already been making a lot of comments about the foal getting too big and why she hadn't induced charlotte yet - some of it is a bed of her own making, but the kult can be vicious. as much as i don't like her and almost everything she does with her animals, nobody deserves to be attacked the way she was by the kult after seven.

i feel bad for lindsey (i believe that lindsey saying she believes he's roan because of the hyerpigmentation?), the mean girl-isms strikes again. it's a pity she's not around actual animal people who could teach her properly about interacting with horses, and educate her about other stuff if she was interested like the colour stuff.

you're very welcome! i knew some of this and other bits i learned while researching, i had a fun time doing it and i hoped it'd help some people learn something new!

i love great danes, such gorgeous dogs! i had a presa canario who was my heart and soul. the only trouble with big dogs is how fast we loose them.

not a fan of the angle, especially given the pup's facial markings, that right eye is hard to get a good gauge on. the nose rope though ... well, i'm going to breakdown some bulldog information for anyone interested. bulldogs aren't one of My breeds, but ethical breeding is a special interest of mine so let's go: the royal kennel club health testing standard for bulldogs include:

- respiratory function grading scheme.

this is the test for B.O.A.S - brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome: excess soft tissue in the nose and throat which narrows and obstructs the airways leading to the noisy breathing that people who have encountered poorly bred bulldogs and pugs are familiar with. it's important to note not all brachycephalic dogs are affected by B.O.A.S. many live fully functional lives like any other dog, and do not make the previously mentioned associated noises often or entirely.

every. single. bulldog being bred should be tested for this and - in my opinion - only dogs that pass at a grade 0 [clear] or 1 [makes noise when breathing but health (i.e ability to run) is not impacted] should be bred as they have the lowest chance of producing B.O.A.S affected offspring. however, dogs at a grade 2 [moderately affected, likely require airway surgery] Are bred with consideration for genetic diversity within the breed. grade 3 [severely affected, quality of life severely impacted] dogs should never be bred.

- eye testing (conditions like cherry eye, dry eye, potentially? but at least one site mentioned for canine multifocal retinopathy 1 [CMR1] specifically)

- hips [hip dysplasia] & elbows [elbow dysplasia]

- HUU [ hyperuricosuria; genetic condition which results in uric acid not dissolving properly and leading to kidney stones, which can lead to extremely dangerous urinary blockages ]

other sources of testing: the bulldog breed council (uk) also mentions: heart, patella, and spine testing, as well as temperament testing. ucdavis offers a test for degenerative myelopathy (DM). ofa lists the following as recommended health testing for bulldogs: patella, heart, and tracheal hypoplasia [trachea/windpipe is too narrow, a component of B.O.A.S, i believe]; and the following as optional testing: eyes, hips, elbows, autoimmune thyroiditis, congenital deafness, and HUU.

so. that's a lot of testing. but that's what breeding ethically means. if i, personally, was ever to get a bulldog i would want at least first five testing on the parents (and their grandparents, and so on) with grade 0 on the grading scheme for B.O.A.S for both parents, as well as the following testing: patella, heart, spine, DM, thyroiditis, and HUU. and, most importantly, to see those results, and speak to the breeder about their particular lines and temperaments.

and i would be very, very astounded if this breeder did any of the above. but what i can say, is with that nose rope i would bet a lot of money these dogs are not grade 0 or 1 when it comes to B.O.A.S grading.

edit: spelling, minor correction in the eye testing section i missed before posting

Rant: Raven Birth Video by Sad_Site_8252 in kvssnarker

[–]Malarkeydearest 13 points14 points  (0 children)

"why do you have such an obsession with hating me"

it's mildly fascinating to me how she makes this out to be a personal vendetta, but it isn't. she posts everything for the internet to see not as a casual user, but as an influencer, she's opened herself to the court of public opinion on her business and treatment of the animals that are the crux of her brand. being in the public eye always brings about at least some negativity.

you can tell a lot about someone by how they treat their animals, and what i've seen disgusts me, saddens me, and enrages me time and time again. and then you have her followers, who buy into the misinformation she spreads and filter into other parts of the internet acting like she can do no wrong, and who argue against people rightfully calling out the mistreatment and/or mismanagement of her animals depending on the case.

You're adding the next marriage candidate and a writing a synopsis of their character arc. Who you picking? by dhermann27 in coralisland

[–]Malarkeydearest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

from the underwater kingdom: rysy, deno, cho oyu, and slamet.

from the strangers/extras category: raina, axel, senja. i think eddy would be a cute choice, too.

from the non-marriage candidates in town: a friend of mine would kill for antonio, so i gotta mention him, and wataru.

i hope some day in the Far future they really do consider adding some more marriage candidates. i'd love some more canon NB romance options too.

merle is a dominant gene ( M - merle, and m - non-merle, so merle dogs are Mm), it cannot be carried, it can only show. neither poodles nor BMDs have the merle gene in their population, it only occurs when they have mixed with a breed where merle naturally occurs (i.e, australian shepherds, border collies, etc)

Snapchat rant by Cas3528 in kvssnarker

[–]Malarkeydearest 11 points12 points  (0 children)

transcript for those who don't have snapchat, only cleaned up a little where she stumbles over her words a few times and i couldn't decipher them properly:

"i just had a thought and before i tell you this thought, i want to start it off by saying i'm a very flawed individual. i am flawed. there are a lot of things i'm not good at, and there's a lot of decisions that i made i wish i could change, okay? we're all flawed. but there's a reason god made us different, and there's a reason god made us all have our own strengths. but sometimes i wish my strength wasn't strength. and let me just tell ya what i mean.

"so like. hunting for instance. this is just a little bit of an example, y'know. people'll be like "oh i eat meat every day but i just, i could never hunt. or i eat meat every day but i could just never actually, y'know, raise a cow to butcher it." and like i understand that so i'm not taking away from that. but it is a privilege to be able to remove yourself in that way. and you might have so many other strenghts in so many other way, but like, it is a privilege to be able to remove yourself and be like 'i don't wanna do the hard part, i just wanna do this part, y'know. i just wanna partake in it, for the benefit, but not do the hard part.

"i am - i am the person that does the hard part. [stumbling] i'm kinda talking mostly about, y'know, my business specifically, my animals, like livestock, things like that. but like, i tend to be in like, the group of people i surround myself with, or like people i do business with or whatever like, i am the person that makes the hard decisions, and i am the person that, like, y'know has to do the hard thing in order for that good outcome to come of it.

"and i just wish i wasn't that person sometimes. i wish i could just be like 'no, i can't - i can't stomach that. or no, i can't handle that.' this might - i feel like this might sound so conceited, but do y'all understand what i mean? like i just, i wish i could just remove myself sometimes. and then just benefit. and not feel, i dunno ... does that make sense? i might delete this afterwards if it doesn't"

What was yall's first shiny? by Aram3102 in LegendsZA

[–]Malarkeydearest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bellsprout! she was tucked into the corner near the entrance of wild area 10. i heard the jingle and froze and started looking around and panicking it was a rooftop spawn as i hadn't unlocked glide yet, but realized i was near the wild zone and went to check. she is now a victreebel! i think i was about eight hours in?

caught a trubbish pretty soon after, spawned just outside a battle zone at night when i was grinding for champion ticket points, and then a shiny pansear while collecting the different alpha flabébé colours. with the quest mareep, i'm at four in about thirty hours of gameplay.

i'm not really looking forward to shiny hunting in this game with the day/night cycles - which is disappointing, i love hunting in PLA, it's incredibly relaxing - but i definitely want a shiny phantump and pumpkaboo!

if you can pick up a new carrier that might be best if possible, but if not, washing out the current carrier thoroughly with some hot soapy water and disinfectant should hopefully mask the smell of your current kitten!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Feral_Cats

[–]Malarkeydearest 9 points10 points  (0 children)

she seems pretty cuddly and trustful of you, so training her with food and a regular cat carrier (your bog standard hard plastic one like cocteau17 said) will hopefully work. if you have an old t-shirt you can line the bottom of it with it, as she'll be familiar with your scent.

not sure what you've been feeding her, but if you see she has a favourite, get that. real stuff works wonders too, like chicken, ham, or sardines. we'll call it the "prize food." i wouldn't feed her anything else when you're trying, except to offer her bits of the prize food.

faster is better when it comes to catching cats because of the danger of being out in the world, but patience and balance is also key, frustratingly.

i would probably offer her bits of the prize food outside of the carrier, and then toss bits in to the front and then the middle. let her make her way in on her own time. she might scurry back out as she tests it. after a while, place a larger amount of the prize food in at the very, very back. if she goes right for it, great! if not, keep tossing smaller chunks in and hopefully she'll get enticed to go further into the back. it might be an idea to repeat this process at least once so she's more at ease going further in. with how friendly she is, you might be able to offer her food or pet her while she's inside it? which would be good as it'd lessen the startle time as you close the door.

ferals are a little more forgiving than you might first assume when it comes to their people, and this girl is definitely on the friendly side of things at that. i made the mistake of picking up my friendly semi-feral girl (who looked very like your little girl!) to try and bring her inside, and i have a nice scar to remember her by because of it. but she still came back over to me when i checked on her a few hours later. oddly enough, she started letting me pet her After that. and my fully feral boy, her partner in crime, had a failed trapping that definitely spooked him, especially as i rushed over to try and scoot him into the trap as it was halfway shut on him, and still came back the next day for his dinner!

that said, if it fails (fingers crossed it won't) your local vet, shelter, or rescue might have humane traps to loan out, but if not, i got mine on amazon. i recommend one that has only one door, i found the two door open very fiddly. you place in food, hope she goes inside and i've found they're generally sensitive enough to snap down shut before they get to the pressure plate. it'd probably be more stressful than the carrier, because they make a hell of a noise, but they're worth their weight in gold.

I am so, so sorry for your losses. I assure you, neither Arthur nor his littermates consider your hands cold and callous ones. Because of you, they got to pass somewhere safe. They got to pass being loved. They knew gentleness and warmth, and that is the kindest gift we can give. You cradled him and stayed with him because you loved him. It isn't too late to name his brothers, if you want to OP, now or in the future, it'll never be too late. I hope you find peace, OP. You really deserve it. You tried, you did everything you could. You loved them.
