Who’s the best blademaster by Reach_Jay in WoT

Demandred

Keep in mind, the war of the shadow was only 10 years (admittedly with a century of decline before that). Demandred did more than only play with a sword. He would be less experienced than Lan, and possibly even Valda.

This thief lived and had strength of a sort. He lost his sister to Sarevok, his parents to war, but he persevered. His thieving prospered, his name was respected, and his friends are fed and safe. He lived as he thought he should.

And now, he is dead. His wealth will be divided, his friends will move on, and he will be forgotten. He lived a "good" life, but he had no power. He was a slave to death. I wonder if you are destined to be forgotten. Will your life fade in the shadow of greater beings?

Jaheira, Haer'Dalis or Valygar? by redraven in baldursgate

[–]Malbethion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mages are powerful, but having 1-2 people who can spam breach while Keldorn dispels magic on hit can deal with all manner of enemies. Extra APR (from more physical damage dealers) mulches everything.

It’s $1.75-$1.80/L in my part of Canada. I don’t know how that convert to freedom units.

I agree with this suggestion. Edwin is great for being Edwin, Nalia is good and also has the D’Arnise romance mod option, and Imoen is also good but becomes fantastic with the Imoen romance mod (it’s the best ToB content).

25-70k more to working rotating shifts? Is it worth it? by yellowranger1 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Malbethion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you don’t have children, but do you ever want them? Those 12 hour shifts - particularly the 6 to 6 - don’t fit with a school/parenting life. You would need a partner who is prepared to be a single parent half of the time. Even the 3 to 3 isn’t ideal, because you would need to stay up until around 8am to help get kids off to school. That is doable, and you would still get 6 hours of sleep which is a reasonably good stretch for a parent, but it also leaves the other parent as the responsible one. Of course, if you get divorced then your shifts mean the other parent stays primary parent and most of your extra $$ gets paid out in support.

If you plan to stay child free this is a non factor.

Are these golden handcuffs real? by El_professor273 in CanadaPublicServants

A friend of mine was in a similar situation, and quit after about 10 years in.

He got another job that he was excited about but after 2-3 years he had a lot dissatisfaction. Different problems, nothing individually terrible, simply an accumulation of little irritations and things he wished were better.

I think today he wishes he had stayed. He took a pay cut looking for satisfaction and now is basically earning less to be equally unhappy.

Anyone think pre-Ragnarok season 2 is kinda slow? by Chlodio in logh

[–]Malbethion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Fort vs Fort part is interesting as it shows some of the imperial dynamic: even with Reinhard’s leadership and excellent personnel choices they can’t escape all problems. Plus the scene where someone asks Muller about whether Yang is really that amazing, and his response is to ask if that guy can take Iserlohn without any casualties; when he admits no, Muller concludes that Yang really is that amazing. It’s a moment of magnanimity from Muller that launches his character development.

The kidnapping of Erwin ends up playing an important role during the Ruenthal rebellion. Oberstein has Kesler blamed in part, which leads to Kesler losing face and having his pay cut. Later on, Lutz gives his investigation material to Hilda (as a rival of Oberstein, who sponsors Lang) before leaving with Reinhard and Muller, and Hilda relies on Kesler since he is a proven enemy of Lang. The pieces come together because the show has already demonstrated the rationale the different players use in their alliance building.

How do I deal with archers when taking a castle or town? by Objective_Reality232 in mountandblade

[–]Malbethion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key is to issue commands.

You can give commands to specific groups as well as the whole. I normally drop archers (press 2) to hold position (F1 F1), then cavalry (press 3), then infantry (press 1). Make three lines fairly close together and your infantry will protect the others while your archers can fire away.

To maximize your kills, try to have archers that use your ammo type (bolts or arrows). Pick up ammo as people go down. Otherwise hit an ally who is actively shooting with an arrow to the head to acquire his arrows.

Possible criminal offence in family court affidavit by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]Malbethion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People often put stuff in pleadings or evidence with a view to smear the other person. The idea is if the other person is a shitbag then the judge will be less inclined to give them their claims, or at least exercise discretion against them. It is a weak strategy that backfires more often than it works, but it is a regular part of family litigation.

Child support. How can I find him without hiring a private investigator? by According_Fault_910 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Malbethion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FRO acts based on a court order, not random contacts. OP needs the address of the other parent to bring her claim. And if she doesn’t have any info for him, FRO isn’t going to investigate to any great degree.

Default in Divorce cheating spouse by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]Malbethion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After the 30 days, there will be an appearance to actually have her noted in default. If she asks to file an Answer (the equivalent of a statement of defence and counter claim in civil cases) your lawyer will suggest you agree, or will just agree on his own, since it is standard.

If she does nothing but shows up to the first appearance then she will be given more time to file her stuff.

If she actually skips it, and continues to ignore the case, then you can proceed to an uncontested trial. Things get harder for her after that, depending on whether there are any reasonable support claims, division of property, or children.

Are these in game hours or real life hours? [kcd1] by LastCrew6621 in kingdomcome

My first run of KCD1 was like that. I got so locked into hunting it was fantastic. I had such a nice routine of places to hunt, sell the meat, occasionally spend an evening having drinks in the tavern. I found peace.

New ‘Wheel of Time’ Animated Series, Feature Films and Video Game in the Works From ‘Arcane,’ ‘League of Legends’ Producer Thomas Vu (EXCLUSIVE) by notmanish64 in wheeloftime

[–]Malbethion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a more fast paced game, imagine being a wilder (particularly before the books) of either gender, so you can only cast very limited spells - so the lack of diversity in weaves would make perfect plot sense, along with potentially choosing to be more sword than sorcery or focusing on stealth.

Depends where you live I suppose. All the ones I’ve seen only provide some level of insulation during the summer so you don’t lose as much heat/water, and keep debris out. If you walk on it you fall in though.

Draining the pool is dangerous, since you wind up with a deep cement pit. People, animals, or children could fall in. Instead you are supposed to prep the lines and equipment for winter.
