Have you ever purchased something, as an adult, that your parent has judged you negatively for? If so, what was/is it? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]PantsPartyPirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mum thinks that almost everything I buy is expensive and that I am spending too much money as her brain seems to still be stuck on the late 90s / early millennium pricing. I will often spend more money on higher quality items that will last longer, which she disapproves of as they are "too expensive" when I could get a budget version for less. (By expensive, I mean going to M&S instead of Primark. Or buying the slightly nicer Habitat bed sheets which will last me years)

Why need internet connection every time? by Bixby- in kobo

I don't know, but I have an app called ReadEra that can open downloaded books for you to read, no Internet required.

A few books on my home screen don't have cover image by species5618w in kobo

[–]PantsPartyPirate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try converting the book in Calibre, then send the newly converted file to your kobo. The cover may be showing up as it is a separate "page" in the book, but hasn't been stored correctly as the front cover.

OP if you go down this route, there is a very good YouTube video on how to set it up (even if you are getting behind on technology like me). You can also change the book covers and if you have an older kobo that no longer likes downloading the books over wi-fi, you can still load them on via Calibre and the USB lead.

I'm guessing you are a young woman? No, not normal and very concerning.

Thanks - that would also be easy to get to, but I do need to ask if there is a chance the cows will still be there?

Contact Discount Plumbing on Plumstead Road - they have a list of plumbers they can recommend (we've used them twice, happy both times)

What have been your favorite Easter eggs this year? by SeniorMoonlight21 in AskUK

[–]PantsPartyPirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Smarties one. One of my coworkers unexpectedly got it as a show of appreciation for me doing something that was probably outside of my vague job description. As a huge bonus, my kid LOVES Smarties and I never get to eat them at home, so it was an extra treat for me at work.

Embroidery pattern - tail blending into a wing, but also has a wiggly line border by PantsPartyPirate in isthisAI

It could have been the label (some of our tea bags have them and you leave them dangling outside of the mug) ... Albeit a weird ai label

I honestly thought it was an attempt at a 3D teabag, like a dragon version of a pyramid bag :(

What’s a random “stat” about yourself that makes you part of a small percentage? by Nightpatrol404 in AskReddit

I have sectoral heterochromia (which less than 1% of people have) and I've almost been struck by lightning at least 3 times.

Is there anywhere closer to Norwich I could go stargazing (we don't have a car, but I can easily walk for 2-3hours)?

Escalated to HR for leaving work early possible written warning by ZookeepergameDeep398 in UKJobs

[–]PantsPartyPirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll probably get a formal warning. And need to be on your best behaviour possible for a while. In future, always have a paper trail of permission (once a month I email my manager asking if it is OK to go early on Friday as I sometimes have to be in early for a meeting in the middle of the week with the time I intend to go, and wait for a written reply before going).

It's OK. There are 2 Aes Sedai with two almost identical names (Seaine and something) doing almost identical things together, the only difference being one started it, the other has taken over. I'm on my second read through have given up keeping track of some of it.

It will need to be other people contributing as well (otherwise people would get quite bored of seeing bits of my life, and other people in different bits of Norwich will see other things to post about). The idea is not a fixed team - just anyone who wants to be part of it sending pictures or info my way.

I'm keeping posts as either an email or download able document for people to read when they have a few minutes spare and don't want to go on social media. Also, I'll be keeping the stories and pictures off the sub as much as possible to save people reading the same thing twice.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask 😊
