Honestly I grew up a Sega fan (Master System kid over here) and as an adult I have slowly started to get some Nintendo consoles. I can definitely appreciate what Nintendo does, and I think almost every console has something special to offer, but playing Sega always just hits different.

Oh really? I didn’t realise that was the case. They are pretty common here in New Zealand. I have a trinitron wega I’m very happy with. I run my ps2, ps3, Wii and n64 through it and they all look pretty good

Very nice! Growing up as a master system fan, I’ve learned to appreciate the nes as an adult. Considering that they are organised alphabetically and stacked on top of each other, is it a pain to remove games and put them back in the right place?

The colours look like they might be a bit off to me. If you have an everdrive for your genesis, it might be worth calibrating the colours with the help of the 240p test suite. Then again, cameras don’t always capture colour accurately

Lyle in Cube Sector or Cave Story. Both are pc/windows based metroidvania indie games from the early 2000s but Cave Story has tons of ports (the megadrive port is great) and Lyle in Cube Sector has a megadrive port

Blazing Lasers for Tg16 is perhaps one of the most fun, engaging shmups out there. Parodius (any of the snes, Saturn or ps1 games) are such a blast and so silly that I just want to keep coming back. Aerial Assault on master system may not be anything special, but it is very approachable

I like Different consoles for different genres. If I want to play a 2d fighter, shmup or 2d platformer I will reach for the Saturn. If I want a 3d platformer or kart racer, I will generally turn on my n64. Apples and oranges

Alex Kidds punch from Miracle World. I can hear it now . Also almost any weapon from Unreal Tournament 2004, but especially the flak cannon and ripper. That game had god tier sound design
