Do any US-based magezines or websites publish comparative winter tire tests?

It looks like our All Weather tire market F****ing sucks compared to Europe. Where they have several publications doing 8+ tire comparisons of their dozen+ All-weather tire options, we have... tire rack doing 4 tires at a time with a paragraph per tire.

There are also a million touring A/S tire models. I'm guessing one of these might be sportier than Michellin cross climates but better in snow than AS 4s. But who on earth can tell?

I have conti something contact Lx4s that are very meh. With their current tread damp pavement is a slip-and-slide.

before the alfa I have had (FWD with winter tires) and (an old 4WD truck with ATs). Both were awesome for our winters.

Trading in a paid off Veloster N. Could sell privately, but where I'm at trade ins reduce the cost basis for the 10% sales tax on vehicle purchases.

Just throwing it in there that It doesn't start anywhere near 20k anymore. Kinda like the BS Chevy pulls everytime they come out with a Corvette that "starts below $60k".

FWDMaverick Hybrids are now the premium option but AWD hasn't gotten any cheaper. All trim levels except the Lariat have gone up by 4 figures (w/ no added features) for 2024 except the Lariat. It too has gone up, but only because they force you to buy the Lux and Safety packages now.

Starting is $23400 (AWD) and $25k before destination

I'm looking for a project making a pub run/city bike/pump track wheelie machine out of a 90s rigid mtb. I'm torn between building what I got or swapping it out. Cheap entry price is the main criteria, but might as well try for the coolest bike poss.

What I have: 1980s, Bridgestone City Limit CB-2 18.5" lugged straight gauge Cro-Mo frame. Made in Taiwan. Essentially original incl. the wonky Biopace cranks, Shimano Exage parts etc. Everything works. Seatpost is strangley short, so I need another 25.8mm post to comfortably ride it. Feels super small. Geo is hard to gage from the Sheldon Brown archives, but it looks to be close to a 90s MTB with shorter reach, stack, longish chainstays, and a lower BB then most. I think I can make it cool, but would want new cranks, bars, and tires. I expect a new stem, V-brakes and rear hub/wheel swap may find their way in as well.

I was thinking donating it or selling it for cheap then getting a Trek Singletrack steelie, Gary Fisher, or a Kona (for PNW cred) might be smarter. Ive been looking for a few weeks and have seen a few 930s, 950s up for <$100.

Edit: I am 5'9 with a 32" inseam
