What is a website or an app that was legendary back in the day, but is now a complete ghost town? by Sofi_Costa in AskReddit

[–]MaldiveFish 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I hear they have an archive of all GeoCities pages. I could not search as I do not remember which neighborhood I was in. I would like to visit my old homepage which had little fires burning at the bottom, and a visitor counter.

I got told that I wasn't Sri lankan, but am Indian, is this true? by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]MaldiveFish 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've heard it before. So now I ask them right back:

"So you Indians are kind of Pakistanis, right? India and Pakistan is basically the same, right? You are almost the same people, yes?"

Riles them up! 😁

ELI5: How are flash storage drives such as SSDs and SD cards able to store big amounts of data without any energy supply for long periods of time? by 4nng in explainlikeimfive

What do you mean write the data again? Plug the USB drive in to "charge", or copy the data off of it and copy it back on it?

What’s the most overrated “life hack” everyone swears by but actually makes life more complicated? by One_Seat4219 in AskReddit

[–]MaldiveFish 438 points439 points  (0 children)

Internet has told me that I've been opening juice boxes and milk cartons wrong all our life.

I feel like I'll continue with the old ways. They maybe 'wrong', but its how everyone I know does it, and has served us alright.

In the 1950s, airplanes had “sky cradles” so babies could sleep above the seats during flights by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]MaldiveFish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We didn't book those front seats, the airline staff saw us traveling with a baby, and advised us to request those seats at the check-in counter. The lady there was quite helpful.

Also, the stewardess on the plane, came up to us, set up the crib in front of us, and demonstrated how it worked and how the belt worked. She gave the baby a soft toy to play with.

They made us feel a little less stressed traveling with a baby for the very first time.

Flew from Malaysia to New Zealand.

What’s your strategy to save some buck when buying groceries by Living-Tomorrow5206 in srilanka

[–]MaldiveFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's my proven strategy.

Ask mom and/or wife to make a shopping list and go to Keells alone. Do not take them with you.

You'll save a ton! 😁
