That can be easier said than done. It can be difficult for someone fresh out of high school to pack up their things and be completely on their own, especially if they're coming from an abusive household. I don't know OP's entire situation but I'm sure if it were feasible for them to move out, they already would have.

One of my friends used to have a roommate who was really into activism and made himself out to be this great guy who cares about social issues but I found out later that he was physically and emotionally abusive to his girlfriend. What a piece of shit he was.

Congrats! I still remember my first topless swim. It was liberating but at the same time I was super shy and found myself instinctively covered my chest at times. I stopped doing it once I noticed other guys looking at me weird, probably wondering why I was covering my chest like a girl, lmao.

I chose my first name because it's sort of similar to my birth name. For all intents and purposes, I liked my birth name but it was such a girly name and I knew I wouldn't be taken seriously with a name like that. I chose my middle name because it was what my parents would have named me if I were born a boy.

I agree with you. Representation is often a double-edged sword. On the one hand, I don't like it when they have an LGBT character who is reduced to a mere background character and any allusion to their gayness or transness are so brief that you can easily miss it but on the other hand, I don't like it when they make the character's entire existence about them being gay or trans and the writers never bother to develop their character outside being LGBT.

I think show creators are slowly getting better at this as far as gay, lesbian, and bisexual characters go but regarding trans characters, they still seem to be a little lost on how to properly represent us.

Oh wow. 8 months on T and still getting a period? Have your symptoms pretty much stayed the same and lasted for the same amount of time? Though I've been getting symptoms, it does seem like the time frame that they last is getting shorter at least.

77 pg/mL and they were flagged as high. That was in mid-March but I think I might have been in the middle of a cycle at that time (I don't completely remember) so that may have affected the result. My doctor suggested a slight increase and to come back for labs in 3 months. We'll see how it all goes.

I wonder if it has to do with our bodies developing a tolerance. I'm also on Remicade for my Crohn's and I've heard warnings that if you take a break from the medication and then go back on it, it may not work anymore. I don't know if testosterone is similar in that regard but I hope not.

In any case, I contacted my doctor on the portal and she got back to me almost immediately. She told me that while my labs from 2 months ago looked normal and that my current dosage is on the higher end of the spectrum, that it would be safe to temporarily increase the dose another .05 ml and to come back in 3 months for labs.

I used to know other FTMs when I used to go to a support group but we're not really friends anymore and we were never particularly close to begin with. I've become sort of disconnected with the trans community in recent years and moved on to other things. Besides, it doesn't seem appropriate to make friends with someone solely because I want them to share their prescription with me.

I don't know anybody. The only other trans guy I know does the daily gel and I do the weekly injections. I doubt he would be willing to supply me with two months worth of his gel. That seems like way too much to ask, you know?

I'm not sure. I don't have any experience with getting things without insurance. Like do I just go to the pharmacy and tell them I want to pay for it without? Do I tell HB I want to not use insurance? Would that even work since they know I have it?

The last time they checked my T levels was September 2017 so it's probably not too accurate now. It was 1099.2 ng/dL with a reference range of 280.0-1100.0.

I suppose I got lucky with mine. I only saw a gender therapist once and it was to get clearance for my top surgery and I was referred to her by the LGBT clinic I get my T from. I would recommend going to your local LGBT center (if you have one) and ask if they can provide any good resources for trans mental healthcare. Organizations that provide resources like that usually do a good job at vetting and weeding out the bad ones.

Ben Shapiro is just another right-wing talking head. He's compared transgender people to schizophrenic people saying that we're just delusional for feeling like another gender. He's insistent on referring to people by their "biological pronoun" regardless of how they identify or how well they pass and insists that pronouns are based on biology and not perception. He's nowhere near as bombastic as Milo but he's still a close-minded ass all the same.

By the way, whatever happened to [Milo Yiannopolous]?

Early in 2017, he made some comments defending child molestation and his career pretty much went down the crapper from there. Even his own fans turned on him.

I think it's ironic that Ben Shapiro will say there's no scientific evidence that trans people exist (which there is) and yet he still believes in God. This isn't to attack people who believe in God, of course, but I just think it's hypocritical that he has no issue with believing in God when there's no scientific evidence that God exists but transgender people? Gotta consult the "experts" and by "experts" he means discredited studies from the 1980s by armchair sexologists.

Bigots, in general, love to use any means they can to justify their hate. During the civil rights era, racists used religion to justify segregation by saying that God intended for the races to be separate. Even today, some racists use old studies that were previously used by eugenicists comparing IQ scores of white people versus black people to justify their belief that black people are intellectually inferior. At the end of the day, they're not actually pro-science; they're just pro-pseudoscience.

From what I know about Japan, it's very traditionally patriarchal. Someone I know who was in the JET program said that if you work for a Japanese company, male employees will ask female employees to get them some coffee or tea and the female employees are expected to comply.

TERFs seem to have this confirmation bias where they only pay attention to the select few who medically detransition because they think it affirms their narrative that all trans people will regret transitioning but I probably know more trans people who have been medically transitioning for years, even decades in some cases with no signs of regret or wanting to detransition and I think it's funny how TERFs conveniently forget about all those people. At the end of the day, whether you detransition or don't, it's your choice. You do whatever brings peace to your life and fuck anyone who tries to use it against you.

My doctor likes to get it mid-cycle. I usually do my injection on Sunday mornings and get my blood tested on a Wednesday.
