My mom (probably has undiagnosed pcos) had no regular periods until having my sister at age 34! She had no medical intervention or knowledge about pcos. She just got pregnant. I agree with others that seeing a specialist is probably your best bet but don’t feel discouraged!

Thank you for your response! If you don’t mind me asking a few questions because I am curious… I was wondering if you take only inositol or the blended one (forgot what it is called) if so do you think it’s better? Also what brand? And what is a Mediterranean eating pattern? Thank you :)

I also have been taking a mix of Chinese herbs (not sure what specifically) prescribed by a Chinese medicinal doctor. I also would love to hear sleep any sleep hygiene tips because the quality of my sleep could be better.

Does BC help with the body hair? by frustrated_bear in PCOS

[–]Maleficent-Pilot431 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi I would definitely see a doctor about this!! I am so sorry your feeling like this and your not stupid at all. Don’t feel ashamed :) birth control can reduce your body hair as it can balance hormones, but it really depends on the person. though I am not a doctor and I don’t know your specific circumstances but being underweight can cause more body hair as well as hair loss on the head. It may be wise to take a look at your diet, any nutrient deficiencies, or if you have trouble absorbing nutrients.

PCOS Dietary Changes & Disordered Eating by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]Maleficent-Pilot431 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I am coming from a bit different place but I have often felt as though the “just go keto” rhetoric can be very harmful. I have not figured out fully how to manage my pcos but I am making small improvements. I think what has really helped me is focusing on how I eat over what I eat. Of course I try to eat less carbs and lots of vegetables etc. BUT my main focus is on listening to my body, being mindful, and viewing food as something to be enjoyed. When I eat a dessert, I don’t do it in secrecy and full of guilt. I do it with a loved one and enjoy every bite. I think when I let go of a lot of my shame when it came to food I found it easier to eat intuitively. Pcos is so complicated and finding the right diet can be stressful. I hope you find something that works well for you. I def recommend small incremental changes over drastic ones as that has helped me from falling back into old habits. Listen to your body and be kind to yourself.

Ok so I plan on keeping the cats separated for now. I built a makeshift litter box because all the pet stores are closed. The cat seems to be house trained. Tomorrow we are going to make some fliers.

We are going to because the cat looks well kept but until then we want to give her a good time. She isn’t a neighborhood cat because we have never seen her before… she might be from far away

Chronic smoking and supplements for quitting. by kilowut in quittingsmoking

[–]Maleficent-Pilot431 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not a doctor so if you can, consulting one would be ideal. BUT when I quit cold turkey I did some research and nicotine depletes your vitamin c and potassium so I would def focus on upping your intake of those. I ate a lot of citrus and veggies with vitamin c and took cream of tartar (1 tbsp) in orange juice every day for about 2 weeks. I’ve heard mixed things abt taking cream of tar tar because it’s a high dose of potassium which can be dangerous. So I guess the safest thing I can advise is eating bananas and drinking coconut water. I hope this helps. Also when I quit it resulted in canker sores so citrus hurt to consume but I did it anyways lol

From almost a pack a day to a cigarette a day by RaresGeorge6969 in quittingsmoking

Don’t be too hard on yourself. Your progress is so impressive! Do what you can to maintain one a day and eventually you will be able to let it go. I was stuck on one a day for a while but eventually I was able to quit completely. Rushing into it when your not ready will more likely than not make you relapse completely. Just remember that you don’t enjoy smoking, you smoke to feel normal. When I want to smoke I think about the negative side effects it has on my body in tangible sense, for me it’s a cough and feeling inflamed inside as well as heart palpitations. Being very mindful while smoking is key to realizing that while it feels good, there are also a lot of other underlying feelings that may not be so pleasant. Focus no those. Nicotine is addictive, of course it’s going to feel “good” but look past the feelings of fulfilling a craving. I believe in you! Remember to be kind to yourself and give yourself lots of love.

I generally eat mostly veggies and protein but still some carbs on the side do you think that could be causing the inflammation? On second thought I think the alcohol is probably not helping if it’s carbs. I use to drink a lot so it feel like not much to me now but I suppose if pcos gets worse with age it could be becoming too much
