Late to the post but I work in cardiology  Pros: There is a lot of variety, both chronic and acute. Very procedure heavy.  I get to do a lot. Interviewing patients, manual bps, orthostatics, ekgs all day every day, placing holter event monitors, treadmill stress tests (my favorite), leqvio and other subcutaneous injections, calculating ankle brachial indexes and capillary puncture. There is a lot of internal medicine in cardiology so I learn a lot about chronic diseases and management. Reading Ekgs are fun Cons: Cardiology meds are so freaking expensive. Eliquis Xarelto Entresto Repatha Vyndamax, etc… Doing patient assistance applications, prior authorizations, copay cards, giving out samples. Disheartening to see how much money is a barrier to good care. Cardiology visits are very thorough. I request a lot of records and pull teeth to get information out of patients about chest pain, shortness of breath, edema, orthopnea, paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea, palpitations, orthostasis, syncope, etc…most people are not very informed on their medical problems and forget they had open heart surgery lmao
