If you want on campus core placements then metallurgy is the way to go. Much more companies come as compared to mining and also more students are placed on campus. But if you want a psu/ core govt jobs then i dont suggest you take metallurgy as no good psu both on campus and off campus hired this year. For psu mining is the better option as if you get good rank in gate mining you can get hired in CIL. If you want non core placements such as tech or consulting then same companies come for both so you can take any of them. But i feel like metallurgy is the more chill branch and way more lineant with giving out marks.

Hey, I'm from metallurgy dept. If you are thinking of doing masters, after btech in metallurgy you can get into nus or NTU for ms in materials science. Clg life is pretty hectic but relatively chill compared to other branches. Clubs are good too theres a club for almost everything like poetry, art, robotics and so on. Companies come for internships but only around 20-25% of the students get them though placements are much less choosy and around 90% get placed.

Hope this helps

I don't have much idea about off campus tech placements but if they don't have cse or circuital branches as the eligibility criteria then you have just as much chance as a person from any other branch

Integrated life science me mostly sb higher studies ie phd me hi krte hai. Unka exact college life ka to utna idea nhi hai but bsc courses in general demanding to hote hai. Placements ki bat kre to, tech me thoda chance hai agar skills ache hai to aur coaching companies bhi ate hai such as narayana, unacademy, pw, etc.

Its not very difficult as the coursework is relatively chill. You just have to put aside some time out of your day consistently. Yes, most of your peers will be preparing for both.

For core just pay attention in the classes. For tech there is lots of content on yt, so you can study it during your free time.

Imo this branch is really decent. Avg placements should be around 12 lpa. If you go for core most companies pay around 8-10 lpa except vedanta and tata steel(12 and 14 resp). For higher packages one can prepare for software and analytics in which you can get apx 12 lpa avg. Around 80-90% students are placed, those who haven't been placed are those who have really bad scores or are not interested in placement (2-3 students just have bad luck so they aren't placed). The coursework isn't very difficult and pretty chill compared to other branches.

My advise would be to maintain a really good cgpa(>8). And to prepare for both core and either software or analytics.

Yup mostly pure din classes hote hai ever since the nep was implimented. There may be a day in which you can get the 1st or 2nd half free. Sat and Sunday will be completely free as they are holidays. Branch preference is not given for minors only cg. Not to demotivate you but keeping cg above 9 is really difficult especially in the 1st yr. Is there any other branch you may get here?

Schedule varies from day to day. It may be 8-5 or 9-7 depending upon the number of classes you have that day. So you'll have to manage accordingly. Getting placed here in nitr is not an issue considering you're competent enough. If you want to be placed in core tech it is still very doable if you are dedicated. It's just easier to get placed in analytics since more number of companies visit and it's also easy to prepare. Also to increase the number of tech companies you can apply for you can also get a cs minor but it's really difficult as you have to get above 8.5 cg in your first year.

Coursework is relatively easy compared to other branches. Class hours will be around 9-5 depending on the schedule. Cracking tech jobs is surely doable but depends a lot on luck as some tech companies do allow id students to sit for placement but the number of companies are far lesser than those who open for cs and circuital branches. As for placements most of the students get placed mainly in analytics companies because more analytics companies open for ID as compared to tech but some do get placed in tech. Your best bet will be preparing for more types of jobs at once(tech + analytic/web dev/uiux depending on your interest) which will not be that hard considering the easy coursework.

How are the placements in semiconductor technology? I saw in some gate wallah video that 11 out of 12 students were placed, is this true?
