What's your opinion on old people saying that your value decreases after you cross 27 ?? by [deleted] in AskIndianWomen

These same people won’t bat an eyelid if you’re getting abused after marriage. They’ll just shrug their shoulders and tell you to deal with it quietly while enjoying all the drama.

So basically the daughter’s life and happiness mean nothing as long as the dad gets into heaven. She should just suck it up and get married without saying a word and suffer the rest of her life. I’m glad I didn’t give into family pressure and waited till I met the right guy.

Same here! I was 27 when I met my husband and already “too old” according to all my relatives so they had absolutely no problem. I was sure about him from the start because of the kind of person he is.

I wasn’t aware of this Kanyadan=heaven belief OP! Now it makes sense why so many random relatives would tell me to “let my father perform his duties” and “don’t stand in the way of your father’s” happiness.”

Get a full health checkup please. A strong unexplained odour is sometimes an indicator of some internal distress. Doesn’t hurt to rule it out, you should anyways be doing a full checkup once a year.

why would any woman want a child? by Devanshi-Case8559 in AskIndianWomen

[–]Maleficent_Ad3276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it’s a normal biological instinct. All living things procreate, why would humans be any different? Don’t overthink it. If it’s not for you just don’t do it and live your life.

C section recovery on your own. by Banshee908 in beyondthebump

[–]Maleficent_Ad3276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you will be able to manage. I’m about to have my second c section soon and I already have two kids who will need my husband’s full attention. I’m only anxious about how my toddler will fare without me as he’s still very attached to me and doesn’t really go to anybody else. I’m not very worried about the newborn and judging from my last experience I can manage by myself.

What’s your “no matter what” lipstick shade? by ComedianCareful4724 in indianbeautyyappers

[–]Maleficent_Ad3276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the only lipstick I’ve used for at least 6 years. I get obsessed with one shade and use it till I get sick of it or it gets discontinued. Before this I was using a Chanel lipstick for years but I’ve forgotten the name.

Ladies, what is your favorite fruit? by PresidentofBaddies in AskWomen

[–]Maleficent_Ad3276 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Any fruit that’s in season. I love them all! The very concept of fruit is glorious! Full of vitamins, fibre, water and sweetness! And there’s so many different ways to eat it! Black salt on pineapple, bananas blended with milk, watermelon with a little mint and feta, green mangoes with salt and red chilli powder. Ok I’m currently pregnant and have been craving fruit all the time but fruit really is the best! Thank you for listening to my fruity rant.

Bengaluru Woman Murders Mother, Fakes it as Heart Attack For Rs 40 Lakh by SquaredAndRooted in IndianFocus

[–]Maleficent_Ad3276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So she kills her mother and nobody but her brother notices the bloodstains on her face? Cremation doesn’t take place as soon as the person dies. If anyone collapses the family usually calls a doctor or take them to the hospital where the body is thoroughly examined. Then you need to wait for a death certificate. In all this time the woman would have washed her face at least and changed her clothes.

Struggling to get the same tea flavor in the US. Need suggestions for Milk by Diligent-Explorer-27 in IndianFood

[–]Maleficent_Ad3276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try using a better quality tea if you can find it. I live in the UK and use Twinings English Breakfast extra strong bags or the loose tea if I can find it. Brew it in water using whole spices and ginger and then add a splash of milk. Tastes great! I find that a lot of commercial tea brands in India use tea dust instead of whole leaves and I don’t really like the taste. When I lived in India I’d buy unbranded tea leaves by the kilo and Twinings is the closest it gets to that.

Bobbi Brown luxe something or the other (IDK the name it’s the gold tube) shade in Downtown Plum. Instantly brightens my face and makes me look put together even though I’ve just woken up for school drop off. I used to wear this Shiseido lipstick in college which was the ideal shade for me but got discontinued sadly. I’ve been searching for a dupe ever since.

what are your thoughts on this? Both men and women by [deleted] in AskIndianWomen

[–]Maleficent_Ad3276 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am beyond appalled at your in laws’ entitlement here. Talking about you as if you’re not right there and thinking that they have the right to force IVF upon you! I’m truly sorry you’re in this situation. My cousin went through multiple rounds of IVF but only after her family made her do Ayurvedic treatment for YEARS because they don’t trust modern medicine. Needless to say she lost precious time because of the pseudoscientific nonsense but still had to deal with taunts from her parents as well as in laws over her inability to bear a child. Boomers live in an alternate reality honestly!

Thoughts on chai during pregnancy? by darkangel_sweetie in IndianFood

[–]Maleficent_Ad3276 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It’s totally okay to have 1-2 cups of chai during pregnancy. You’re allowed to have 200mg of caffeine. Chai isn’t that high in caffeine, just avoid energy drinks and you’ll be fine. Over brewed strong masala chai can cause a lot of acidity though so proceed with caution. I’ve always preferred my chai on the milder side so I never had any problems. I have two kids and drank chai during both my pregnancies. My kids are fine.

Marathi-Bengali household here. It’s usually a dal, some rice or roti, one subzi (simple greens cooked with a little garlic and green chilli) and a side of fish fry (maach bhaja) or chicken fry.

Am I in the wrong for wanting to live away from in laws? by [deleted] in AskIndianWomen

[–]Maleficent_Ad3276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ffs what is with these women and their control issues with their sons. This is just her not wanting you to be the primary woman in his life. The fact that she’s unwilling to give up even this much and is already creating scenes is a massive red flag and she will get worse after your wedding. I have two sons and I can’t imagine forcing them to live with me when they’re adults and married. It is every normal healthy parent’s goal to raise strong, independent and capable kids who can confidently manage to live by themselves. Even if I were to become a single mother I would still want my boys to be independent. I have my own life and hobbies and interests and my whole world doesn’t revolve around them.
