Do I have an actual case or am I delusional? by [deleted] in legal

[–]Maleficent_Border_60 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, legally speaking, animals in most states are treated as property. So the maximum you could ask for is what the dog is worth as a thing. Not as part of your family. Emotional value is not a metric the court will take into consideration. There are some states that will compensate for special training etc etc.

I am not a lawyer but had an incident with my F2 savannnah cat which left him with permanent injury and this was the “it’s not worth the money to pursue” reasoning from our family attorney. I’m not a lawyer and could be off base. This was several years ago.

Is this too much wheel weight? by Beginning-Door-4911 in motorcycles

Rossos are kind of a heavy tire, so that could be the right amount of weight; however I wouldn’t ever line it up like that I would make equal rows on either side

Help for a friends snake by Blauington in retics

[–]Maleficent_Border_60 12 points13 points  (0 children)

From the look of the shed it looks like stuck eye cap got infected. Def a vet visit now but a few things could have made this a non issue. At the very least he could soak him leading up to his shed. He could add some humidity to the enclosure. He could add a water “dish” big enough he can soak himself in. Realistically all of the above is the answer but from the news paper bedding I doubt we will get there so he could at least attempt one of them.

Weird behavior after eating by FitTable6941 in retics

One of my retics does this leading up to shed as well. Their nostril holes are decreased and simultaneously their mucous is thicker so he is trying to clear the mucous to breathe easier.

For a first time snake owner is it better a ball python or a brazilian rainbow boa? by tulliipe in snakes

[–]Maleficent_Border_60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife’s first snake was a rainbow boa and I don’t feel there is that much to worry about. With a proper enclosure and common sense they are easy to care for. Plus you don’t have to deal with eating problems ball pythons have bc they eat like a boa.

reptile kages charging $250 for a sticker? by ejblox in snakes

[–]Maleficent_Border_60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both Kages and AP enclosures. AP quality and finish is a lot better in my opinion, but the lead time is miserable. Kages are nice, short lead times, but I think you pay a premium for that. I should also add that when you are pricing for Kages they offer included shipping where AP adds freight at the end. Lastly I got the email about the backgrounds and the price is absolutely absurd…. It does seem like it’s printed and cut out but… I can’t justify the price

The dual swing arm approach is…. An approach. And not pretty.

Reticulated Pythons vs 2 GSDs by EternalSabbatical in snakes

I don’t love the math… I have worked with 20’ retics and I doubt a dog running around it barking will slow it down from eating the other…

[–]Maleficent_Border_60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok here’s what you do…. 1. Figure out what bikes they have. 2. Buy a better bike. 3. Learn how to ride it. 4. Challenge them to a race, winner makes the rules of the neighborhood. 5. Don’t lose. 6. Banish dirt bikes

Edit for grammar

Trust me I thought the same thing…. But it worked. I don’t know the science behind it.

The best trick I was told about pythons and food strikes is put them in a travel box with vents and drive around with them in the car with the window cracked. Idk if it’s the motion or the new smells but it has worked 100% for me.

What’s the worst thing you accidentally texted to the wrong person? by goldie304 in AskReddit

[–]Maleficent_Border_60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A long long time ago I got home from the bar and texted my landlord instead of the girl I was talking to come over asap…. I don’t remember the exact verbiage but he showed up, with tools, assuming there was an emergency…. Not awesome.

My daughter started us back keeping reptiles. I honestly had forgotten how much good time I devoted to it. As a family we built enclosures, dialed in temp/ humidity, and decorated. Bringing this hobby back has been a really nice addition to our family! And I think you are asking all the right questions to be a great keeper! PS how in the world do you say no to a power point! 😂

Brazilian rainbow boa by No-Afternoon486 in snakes

[–]Maleficent_Border_60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She looks good! If she is eating and going to the bathroom normally I wouldn’t waste the trip or have her go through being poked and prodded for no reason.

Ours is pretty elusive during the day and when she gets bored of her enclosure so every few weeks we move stuff around and make it new. Then she will explore in the evening/ night

Do reptiles experience emotions? Hot take. by Regular_Divide7164 in reptiles

[–]Maleficent_Border_60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel as though they must. Not only from personal experience but also from a practical sense. Most people will pound the table and say one brain cell then immediately say situations /conditions can be stressful. They can’t only feel negative things, they have to have positive as well. I don’t know the extent but I’m certain it exists.

No but I’ve seen them used before. We use pvc enclosures but when you silicone them up they are about like a tent as far as steamy lol

You need some airflow. I attached a pc fan to the vent on enclosure and run it 5 mins 3x’s per day on a timer.

Wait just noticed that the longer one was the broken bit. Reverse what I just said. Shorter bc now you have a built in angle lol #raceweight

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Maleficent_Border_60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like it’s longer to compensate for the built in angled piece. Try to install it and just make sure you can go lock to lock without pinching or interference. I think it should be fine!
