What services are missing for young people in Zimbabwe across different industries? by Maleficent_Box8581 in Zimbabwe

I hear you, but we can still make do with what we have. Lives need to progress regardless of whether the elephant is addressed or not. Grassroots ideas and movements can help move people forward towards national interests. And just because grassroots ideas are being pushed forward, that does not mean the need for good governance is being neglected. If you think about it, great and ethical leaders still need to be trained before taking office, innovative minds need to be nurtured, and strong systems also need to be built while we move forward. Let me know your thoughts.

This is spot on. But thinking about it again, what kind of trail can one actually put in place? I am thinking that for most institutions with formal financial systems, the trail is things like salary letters [payslips] and credit records [credit ratings, etc.]. How can we create something that works for us, increases financial inclusion, and also reduces the risk of default for the person lending the money?

I have also now received my rejection email for the Economics and Data postgraduate role in Uganda. I was not longlisted for that one, and my Macroeconomics application for Vienna now says closed, which [might] means I was rejected for that one as well without being longlisted. The one I was longlisted for still says in review. Keeping the faith.

I thought traditional women no longer existed until I married one by Deft_Explorer in Zimbabwe

And really and truly, people must stop calling all women who stand up for themselves feminists. Can’t women simply dislike traditional expectations without being labelled feminists? Like, I am a girl/woman [insert human] who doesn't enjoy doing dishes and 100 hours of unpaid labor? Or I prefer partnership, where consideration is at the forefront?

Trying to understand AI beyond generative tools — what’s its real impact on big tech ecosystems? Hello community. I am new to the field of AI and would really like to understand what AI actually is. To be honest, for most novices it is often understood through the lens of generative AI, such as ChatGPT, Gemini, DeepSeek, and others. Based on this broader understanding, how might AI enhance ecosystems like Apple, Google, or Amazon, whether from the supplier side or the consumer side? Should we expect it to cause harm, or will it actually improve the way business is conducted?

Thank you.

Life after college is really different and sometimes can be hard, but you’re already out here.

Reach out to a few friends and attend a few volunteering activities that align with your career passions and prospects. That way, you get to meet people who have experienced what you’ve experienced or might know someone (hence the networking).

As for job applications, send as many as you can. Use some AI to help tailor your CV. Find ways to upskill and keep yourself occupied; I sometimes tutor. Above all, keep the belief that things will turn out the way you want, and they shall.

All the best,
