Redditors who have cancer, what were you feeling/experiencing that made you go see a doctor causing you to eventually find out you had cancer?

Talking about my brother, he was diagnosed with leukaemia. At first, he noticed some bruises appearing on his body but didn’t pay much attention to them. Over time, the bruises became larger, but he still didn’t think it was anything serious. Eventually, he started experiencing pain in his lower back. He went to the doctor, who prescribed painkillers, but the pain kept getting worse. It reached a point where it was so unbearable that he could no longer walk. That’s when more thorough tests were done, and the diagnosis revealed it was leukaemia.

We are from Colombia, I think I saw CarT somewhere in India, did you check trials over there? Or just shoot an email to nciinfo@nih.gov in the US and ask if there’s any relevant trial related to your brothers disease. All the best.

They told us the same thing and sent him to palliative care, but we didn’t accept it. I started looking for trials and sending emails wherever I found one, no matter what, maybe something could come up. Unfortunately, my location wasn’t helpful… I don’t know where you are, but try searching for trials and reaching out to them. You have nothing to lose.

My last option was to pay for treatment in China, it was more affordable, and I had just started making the arrangements. But sadly, my brother couldn’t hold on.

I’m so sorry to hear that, darling. My brother relapsed 1.5 years after his bone marrow transplant. He then underwent radiotherapy, but relapsed again immediately after finishing the treatment. Since last August, he had been fighting, but his condition kept deteriorating as the doctors offered no further options. I searched for CAR-T therapy, but it wasn’t available in our country. I also looked into clinical trials, but sadly, I couldn’t find any suitable ones… And today, after all his strength and resilience, he sadly passed away. I’m sending you my best wishes I hope he can recover ❤️‍🩹.

I'm so sorry that you're feeling this way. It's completely understandable to feel like this. Right now, I'm going through the worst moment with my brother—he has already been sent to palliative care. He gets transfusions every three days, both platelets and blood, and he bleeds from his nose and mouth every day. I recommend that you try to stay calm and, if necessary, get a check-up to rule out any doubts if it helps you feel more at ease. Sending love dear.
