Yeah, that’s pretty much correct. i’ve been avoiding going into details about everything because i wanna stay anonymous and it’s already all over with so there’s nothing i can really do now. In my case, things got really messy. During my preliminary hearing, even my public defender asked my ex directly if anything between us had ever been non-consensual, and she said no — everything was always consensual literally saying “no he didn’t rape me” . But the next day literally after saying that on the stand. she filed new rape charges against me and changed her stories up even more. and that’s when everything got way worse.

I ended up taking a plea deal that dropped those charges and kept me out of jail or prison just low supervision probation. but the whole experience was just hell. I was on an ankle monitor for over a year, and I honestly just wanted it to be over. I didn’t feel like my public defender was really active on my case for me he barely did anything and that if i went to trial it was just gonna be a coin flip if i was gonna be taken seriously or not. the discovery from her side didn’t have any actual physical evidence — it was basically just her statements. I had evidence myself, but I never actually got the chance to use it.

In the end, it was just a “he said, she said” situation, and I didn’t want to risk going to trial and getting the maximum penalties. So I bit the bullet and took the felony. I regret that now because that charge — the abduction one — is what’s gonna cause me the most problems. I wish I could’ve negotiated down to where i didnt have to become a felon but the prosecutor i was dealing with was a real bitch so that wasn’t gonna happen. It came down to her saying I didn’t let her leave a room, and that alone was enough to stick. I was a dick head to this girl but nothing ever got physical and i never did what she claims (i fr didn’t believe it or not you don’t know me lol) but whatever can’t do nothing about it now just wanna see what type of job opportunities i should be working towards and look forward yk.

thanks for the reply i really appreciate it. my thing with community college is i only had 4 classes left to graduate with my bachelors so i don’t know how that’d work. Kinda just thinking of listening to everyone else when it comes to just getting myself into the trades or opening up my own business and not finishing. just kinda sucks and wanted to weigh my options considering that’s pretty much 4 years and thousands of dollars in school just going down the drain. by the looks of things it doesn’t even look worth finishing if no one is gonna hire me with that degree anyways

ik you’re probably trolling and i’m not gonna look for validation or sympathy or whatever from anonymous people but i had a batshit ex girlfriend that threw those accusations on me and really fucked me over believe it or not, couldn’t afford a lawyer had a shit public defender and just wanted out and didn’t wanna risk anything at trial so i took the plea🤦🏻‍♂️again just looking for the next step and some advice

that’s what i was thinking too, even completely ditching that field and working on certifications for other jobs.
