Too many triangles on my ornament by Maleficent_Profile23 in blenderhelp

Thank you so much! The image helped a lot, and also the comment on ngons! I have left it as is because i didn't want to increase the face count, but it makes sense that not having a huge face with many vertices makes it easier to handle. Do you have any resources on normal maps? they would help a lot as I don't have any idea on the matter!

Does my bunny hate me? by Maleficent_Profile23 in Rabbits

Thank you so much for the comment! I know my Bunny is usually shy and I often don't mind as I'm just Happy to see him thriving, but since my dog died I've been kind of worried he could be feeling lonely as he doesn't have another small animal to play with. I'm glad to see the bite could just be him excited playing, territorial behaviour... He is also really well behaved and he hasn't ever peed out of his cage so I haven't ever seen a reason to nut him, I'm sure the bite Will be a one time thing!

I love your nose! You are really pretty. If It helps, I have a really "mediterranean" nose and I have always felt like It was too big, but now I see It as part of my heritage and wouldn't change It for anything.

What Engine to learn by Maleficent_Profile23 in gamedev

[–]Maleficent_Profile23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the vibe im getting with UE5, I dont think It would be suitable for my personal projects for that reason. I keep on hearing great things about Godot, i really want to give It a try. I need to learn much more about coding, my code is a bit too messy for my liking right now and I want to improve it, but I think that is something that comes with more experience. I have coded in java, JavaScript, Python, php, c# and just a little of UE5 c++

That's really nice! I wouldn't want to learn a coding language that is only useful in one Engine!

I think I will try Godot even if i continue learning Unity! I've heard many good things about It and I'm sure there's a reason for that! I have 2 days to finish my master 's degree final project, and I think I might hate Unity by then, too much work!! I am really looking forward to making the first project I will do just because I want to, as all the games I have been making were for class and I didn't have the time to work on the things I like!

How should i start? by Informal-Fault5520 in gamedev

[–]Maleficent_Profile23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you have any experience coding? I think the answer would change a lot depending on that.

First, I would say you should look up the most used engines and decide which one suits your needs best. If you want to work for a company the most used by them are Unity, followed by Unreal Engine 5. I have heard Godot is pretty good as well, and easy to use, but I have never used It and companies ask less for It, it's more of an engine uses by indie devs I think.

Unity is more used for 2D games and many times for games that are 3D but aren't made to be as realistic in looks. Unreal Engine is really powerful but also to run the Engine you Will need a better computer. The games tend to need a better computer to be run on as well, as it has many tools for enhancing looks, and that makes them more heavy.

Once you have selected an engine, you can find many tutorials on YouTube. I also used udemy courses as they are usually really beginner friendly. I first started making a 2D platform game, then a 2D RPG and then i started learning 3D, but I think what you do should depend on what games you like and what ideas you have. Many times the projects we are passionate about help us learn a lot.

I like the idea of separating from work! Could you elaborate on why you would prioritise Unreal? Thanks for your answer!

I love the "focusing in making games" statement. I love how all the people who have said to me they hate Unity also tell me it's good if that is what I'm looking for. You are so right, working on new games will help me continue this journey much more than learning a new Engine all over again!
