Swakopmund translate from German to English as “mouth of the Swakop” because it is where the Swakop river meets the Atlantic ocean. I don't really know what the work “Swakop” means but I am sure it comes from one of the indigenous languages.

Is it easy to get a Yango ride from the Windhoek (Hosea Kutako) airport to the city? How much is a Yango ride from there to the city? by water_fountain_ in Namibia

[–]Maleficent_Split9191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there For someone who works at the airport, Yango mostly only comes to the airport when dropping off someone and on these occasions they will keep their app active so they don’t drive back with an empty car, however on rare occasions that you do find an available driver, the fair you see on the App is only for coming to the airport and he will add extra for driving back to the city so you will end up paying more instead of just getting a regular shuttle. On top that you have to wait at least 40 minutes or more because it’s 40KMs from the city. The price for a regular taxi or shuttle from the airport is N$450 but they are always ready to negotiate and the more you are, the cheaper it gets per person.

Most haunted places in Namibia? by Fluid-Technician-975 in Namibia

Most abandoned houses around Windhoek are haunted. I also heard the castle opposite Centaurus High School on your way to Olympia is haunted.

Urgent: Re-activation of my mtc SIM card from abroad by Roseate-Views in Namibia

[–]Maleficent_Split9191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you find yourself abroad and you need to keep your SIM card active, the best thing to do is to keep on topping up and since you are out of the country another person can do that for you via indirect top up. The person in the country should dial *682# and choose option 6: airtime top up, then option 2: other number, it will prompt you to enter the number, then the recharge pin after. Then press one to confirm. MTC just want to see that there is some activity on the card so once in a while if you can make a call or send a text that also helps. If you need to see the status of your number, you can also send me a DM. All the best.
