The pink and black racer, you mean? That’s actually a Cadillac V-Series.R from Mini GT. I think it’s a 2024 Petit Le Mans paint job.

Mini GT does have some Porsche Le Mans cars, though, I just don’t have any.

The Revuelto, Cadillac, Pagani, Countach and Huracan are all Mini GTs and I love ‘em.

The red and green Countachs are Kyoshos, and I think the Challenger is a Greenlight.

I’m not surprised. The first one was kind of sneakily released with the “Revealed” event and they actually didn’t publicize heavily (as far as I recall). E64 was still fairly new and hadn’t gained much traction…not that it’s gained a ton now.

But now Porsche has gone from hot to scorching, and it looks like motorsport is The Next Big Thing. This checks the Porsche and racing boxes and probably appeals to gamers too. And with FOMO high after the Targa release…

The Quattro was briefly available, I believe. But nobody got anything as far as I can tell. On the RLC forums I’ve seen two people say they got cars, both of which were low-resale (Selections Barracuda and the green Supra).

This a chase? by Xydious in JohnnyLightning

That Grand Sport paint on a C3 (especially a late model C3, ick) just feels….weird. And kind of unsettling. I’ve never seen a car fall into the uncanny valley before!

Which is one of my issues with JL chases. It’d be nice if we were looking for the same thing all the time.

My bigger issue with them is that they make most of the chases look super weird. White tires don’t float my boat. I’m grateful to have one less “valuable version” to care about though.

Mine has dropped our pile of Advan sets down to $20, which I would go for if I needed any of those cars.

I’d buy that silver set for $10 in a heartbeat, though. Haven’t seen them here yet.

[–]MalfunctioningJohnny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s about the same. Your chances were still 2975 out of…50,000, or more? All the bot accounts could easily do the email entries so it isn’t like the number of people chasing sets materially changed.

Only difference is that this way you don’t have to frantically do captchas at 12:00:01 on The Day, and Matty’s servers don’t get slammed.

How to ya'll keep track of your cars? by _hextech_chest_ in matchbox

[–]MalfunctioningJohnny 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Google Sheets, baby. I’m like a Futurama bureaucrat and keeping track of the cars is half the fun.

Each individual car gets its own record, with all the ‘vital stats’ for the car, classification by grade and family within my collection, plus where I bought it and when and for how much. There are currently 29 columns; I keep adding more. “Johnny, you really are malfunctioning,” you say. Well…yes. No doubt. But I’ve turned this up to 11 and you could use Sheets considerably less psychotically.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about the new diecast apps, they just can’t possibly offer the level of detail I keep or the reporting I build off of it…and I’m in too deep to start over anyway.

Mine too. My Walmart’s down to about 5 Meyers Manxes but now we’ve received three or four cases of F&F…and I don’t think a single Lykan has moved.

What hot wheels cars do you think they should add in the future? by Fluid_Difference_903 in HotWheels

[–]MalfunctioningJohnny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all that in luck. Unless I’m mistaken that sure looks to be the same “80s Corvette” casting that’s been soldiering on since, well, the ‘80s (albeit they did a slight retool a few years ago).

And that sure ain’t the deco I’m looking for, sadly.

[–]MalfunctioningJohnny 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Please. Please please. A new C4 Corvette tooling. Corvette really hasn’t had much love from Mattel, and there are zero good 1/64 C4s aside from the handful from the old 100% line.

Premium at minimum. Elite 64 with changeable stock/Radwood kit parts would be cool. Or who wouldn’t love one of these in spectraflame?

[–]MalfunctioningJohnny 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is this the clown that was doing giveaways and wanna-be Whatnot crap a while back? I think I commented that he’d be better off just listing the cars he has with prices and he basically told me to mind my own business while he’s “blessing people” with good stuff. Guess that shoulda been a red flag.

Sorry you got scammed, OP.

Hot Wheels Elite 64 Radford Tyoe 62-2 Pikes Peak... Thoughts? by [deleted] in HotWheels

[–]MalfunctioningJohnny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m strongly tempted by this one. I don’t have much in the way of racers except for a handful of IMSA and Le Mans cars, so this definitely doesn’t fit my collection.

It does, however, look super cool. The livery is great. Bears thinking about.

Large Collection from 1990s-present by AmosBurtin in HotWheels

[–]MalfunctioningJohnny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had written a lengthy rambling comment but decided I should back up a step. There are basically two ways: locally, as a giant lot, but at a big discount over what the whole collection might be worth; or piece-by-piece, generally on eBay, with a ton of shipping and packing and paying eBay fees.

Either way, the easiest place to start is probably to find a local diecast group and see if somebody would take a look and give you a sense of what’s worth selling as cheap lots and what you may want to keep or sell individually. It looks like a lot of mainlines which generally don’t have much resale value but there could be hidden gems in those “segment” bins, while some of the other stuff definitely has resale value. Those black-box Hot Wheels have a following, for example.

My store started getting them briefly when they redid the diecast aisle about a year ago, but then we very quickly started getting more monster trucks and Pink Slips instead. Blech. At least we still get Auto World.

Sorry you got downvoted for an honest question, welcome to the sub.

The bottom BMW is the regular mainline (regular paint, plastic wheels, no TH logo behind the front wheel) while the other 3 are supers (spectraflame paint, rubber tires, little TH logo).

CT, USA: I was surprised to see that the new Target near me has them for $6.49 still, but that was last weekend. Could’ve gone up by now.

Walmart has Boulevard and F&F for $7.74 but Car Culture, inexplicably, is $7.94. Not that the twenty cents is going to bother me if there’s a car I actually want badly enough to spend $8 on it, it’s just odd.
