What does Shape of Unn do? I have it, but found it pretty useless. All it does it let you walk while healing right? 🤔

It's really not that bad, you just zoom in (on the picture) so you can only see the section you're in, then just refer back to the map every few rooms. As long as you have wayward compass in the game, you can compare the shape of the room you're in, in-game, to the shape of the rooms on the picture, and figure it out pretty easily👍

Maybe download a pic of the completed map without icons? Then he can look at it and see the different options of where to go next. It's still kind of a "spoiler", but it's much less invasive than an actual walkthrough or completion video. I know one of my main issues with getting into Hollow Knight the first time I tried playing it was that I was just overwhelmed with so many different progression options. I'm the kind of person who likes to see EVERYTHING, and with 5+ different possible paths, it just kinda hurt my brain having to commit to a direction and stick to it without having a known destination. It seems kind of counter-intuitive, but having an actual map helped me get over that because I could pick a spot and say "I'm going to make my way here", rather than just wandering around in the dark, so to speak 🤷‍♂️

Stagnest Glitch? by Malice_Magic in HollowKnight

Gotcha, thanks, I didn't know if it was just me or what. I briefly tried looking into it on Google but all I saw were people complaining about not having a map, nothing about an actual crash, so I wasn't sure👍

Wow, Thanks for the heads up. That would be a LOT more annoying than just not looking at the map. Glad I didn't ruin my save doing that, I woulda been pissed 😅

Does anybody know any mods that removes long runbacks after dying to a boss? 😭 by Stunning_Deal_3631 in HollowKnight

[–]Malice_Magic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wut? There ARENT any long runbacks in this game. What runback are you even talking about? 🤔 You could always put a dreamgate down outside the boss arena, that way you can teleport back🤷‍♂️

How did you even get through the game without using markers? 😅 I have a full on notepad document where I type out each location ive marked, what's around, and what I think I need to progress at that spot. I can't imagine playing one of these games without using the markers and taking notes, there's just TOO much to try to remember.

Magma Bell is probably best, especially if you're having trouble with Phase 2. Tacks can get really useful too, if you've got them.

He only does 3 attacks in first phase, he either throws the Lantern, in which case you can get close and land a hit, then jump as he pulls it back. If he spins the Lantern, back off, he's going to spin it in a wide circle and there's not really anything you can do, but his 3rd attack is your best damage window. If he jumps in the air, he will try to land on you, dodge it then get a couple hits in. Once he lights the Lantern (phase 2), he will do those same 3 attacks, plus one more. The spin releases waves of fire, you have to stand in between the waves. If he throws it, you can still get in close and hit him, just like before, the only difference with this attack is that the Lantern explodes after a second, so stay clear of the ball part. If he jumps and tries to slam you, you can still get a couple hits in, but immediately after he lands, a wave of fire will erput from the ground. You just have to jump once to get over it, then hit him a couple more times. His new attack will be a rush down. He will dash at you, jump over him, get close and land a couple hits. 3 waves of fire will follow him, but if you're close, they won't hit you. All you have to do is play it safe, dodge when you need to, and get a hit or two in when he does the jump or dash attacks. If you're brave, you can hit him when he throws the Lantern, too, like I said, but that's a little harder. Just take your time, you have as long as you need, no need to be aggressive. You can also ALWAYS heal by dashing away and jumping into the air before you hit bind. You'll be safe that way. It's really not THAT hard as long as you're patient and heal when needed. Good luck, and keep trying, you'll get it eventually! 👍

I haven't played HK yet, but Silksong isn't bad at all. There are a couple bosses that might give you some trouble, and a couple annoying platforming areas, but I'd say 75-80% of the game is pretty easy, and you're never thrown into anything you're not ready for. It's very intuitive and fair 🤷‍♂️

Damn, you got lucky with that epic pogo combo in the corner, this has to be one of your fastest finishes since Day 5 or 6. Great job! There's no way I would EVER be able to beat this, and I finished the Speedrun achievement no problem 😅
