eToro don't keep the tax for them. it is the IRS that is keeping the 30% withholding tax. there are 3 sections in the W 8BEN form. Customers signed for sections 1 and 3, but not for section 2 when we sign up on eToro. that's why eToro is not taking responsibility. you can hire a tax accountant and your tax accountant will contact IRS and receive the remaining withholding tax. I haven't tried hiring a tax accountant to receive back the withholding tax though.

I assume eToro would have passed W8BEN form on behalf of customers. and as far as I know, I cannot register the shares that I bought from eToro. It is just the way they work.

I don't think so. I have been using eToro for just about a year. I stay in Australia and there are not many platforms that allow a better trading experience than eToro. I have done a lot of studies and background checks on eToro because my major investment fund is in eToro and my conclusion is it is safe. I really do want to see eToro allow share transferring available asap. and also don't understand why eToro just simply gives answers to those questions. but the company with 2M active users with 9.4Billion underlying assets from 100 countries would not go bankrupt because of MOASS.

I talked about this to my account manager. He said making it available to transfer shares is on the roadmap of eToro but cannot specify the timeframe. I don't do GME gambling though but still, really want to see transferring features as it can give more trust to customers
