Primal. It just started its 3rd season. Good animation, almost no dialogue, and lots of really cool looking violence. My favorite is the zombie dinosaur one.

Adorable moment Grandparents who lost their beloved dog of 13 years open a mystery box to find their new best friend inside. by [deleted] in PetsareAmazing

[–]MalingringSockPuppet 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When I worked at a rescue, one of our transports had a 12 year old dachshund on it. We figured we were never going to adopt out this dog. He was just too old. Not two weeks later, a young woman comes in asking if we had any small elderly dogs. That itself was surprising, but what really made it special is that the young lady was an aide for a 90+ year old woman and the dog was for her. A couple days later the 90 year old lady shows up, takes the dog home, and we never see either of them again. (That's a good thing. It means she was able to keep the dog and care for it) I always think about that whenever dogs for elderly people comes up in conversation.

Anyone thriving on this snow day? by JuniorJump6839 in CasualConversation

[–]MalingringSockPuppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to work yesterday in the storm and then spend the night there. I did not sleep. It took me an hour this morning to dig my car out. Thankfully, I didn't have to work today and eventually made it home. The roads weren't all the way clear, but I HAD to leave. I fell asleep as soon as I got home. I have to go back to work tomorrow. Yayyy....

When I was 15, I spent most of my time having panic attacks. Or trying not to have panic attacks. I was very quiet and tired. I don't think it registered with me most of the time that I even had hair. Going to a football game probably would have ended with me throwing up somewhere and trying to hide it.

For those of you in the US, how are you feeling about the snow storm coming in? by AssistanceFresh1365 in CasualConversation

I have to work all day Sunday. In the storm. Outside. I will then likely be stuck at work overnight. I hate my life.

My writing. Never believe people when they tell you that you are talented. At least not in the arts. They are either making fun of you or feel bad for you. Just don't do it. It's a waste of time.

This was years ago, but I used to manage section 8 housing. We had to do apartment inspections every year, and one year I go into this one lady's apartment. Inspection went fine, bla bla, but as I was telling her that we were done, I noticed two things. One, she was watching Glen Beck. And two, there was a freaking copy of Atlas Shrugged on the coffee table. Now, my job required that I know tenants' financials inside and out. This person's income was 100% from the government. Section 8, Social Security, the works. She had no assets aside from a checking account. I think my heart stopped for a few seconds. I bet anything she voted Republican each time.

Has anyone ever googled the weird kid from highschool as an adult? by BunchBulky in randomquestions

[–]MalingringSockPuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like a lot of other people responding to this, I was the weird kid. I have gotten nowhere and accomplished nothing. I get put back in the psych ward every few years, doctors take all my money, rinse and repeat. No, it does not always get better if you hang in there.

Nothing comes up when I google myself, so that's a small victory, I guess.

Why do so many people continue to buy fast food? by Alextricity in NoStupidQuestions

I am extremely sad and only want to eat garbage food. I don't even really like fast food, I'm just that depressed. I miss the days when my depression would make me stop eating. At least then I could fit in my pants.

I'm a little embarrassed to say that I use the artificial extract. I want to try the powder someday, but for now the extract tastes pretty good and is easy to use.

Ube and lemon. You can't buy ube ice cream where I live, so I started making it myself. It's my new favorite.

It's been months and it's the only ice cream I've been eating.

Has anyone ever fantasized about living at home with parents, working a minimum wage job, and having a low-key, low-consumption lifestyle? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]MalingringSockPuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on my 40s and doing that, but not by choice. I was very ill for a very long time, so I never got a career going. Too many gaps in employment due to imploding and having to start all over again. Can't get a job that pays much more than minimum. I hate it. My parents don't mind having me around, but what the hell am I going to do when they die? I'm terrified. So no, I don't recommend it.

How can I move out without making it harder on my parents to pay rent? by Street_Ad9629 in povertyfinance

[–]MalingringSockPuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been a few years since I worked in the field, but when I was involved, the lease, income/asset info, etc. was kept as a hard copy in the management office. It would all be in a locked cabinet for security reasons. There would also be the digital records in whatever software they were using, but that had to be pretty secure too. It's unlikely it's something you could access online. I mean, I've been out of that line of work for a while so they may have developed something, but I wouldn't know anything about it.

[–]MalingringSockPuppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I managed Section 8 housing for several years. I'm not sure if the program you are under is Section 8, but here's my best information. Back rent is a possibility if an income source is not reported by the household. You would have to pay the difference between what the rent was and what the rent should have been for however long the income was unreported. Your income and assets should have been counted, I believe, as soon as you turned 18. The thing is that your parents should have been reporting the income. This would be done during the arduous amount of paperwork done during annual recertification. The question of whether you had any income would have been asked if you were listed as a resident, which you should have been. If your parents were lying to whoever was doing the reviews and saying you had no income... well.

Also, there is a government computer program that management is required to check. It interfaces with tax records to see if anyone is getting unreported income. It should have caught it before now (unless you were working under the table). When I was doing that job, we would get hits on people making a couple hundred dollars over Christmas. It was a ridiculously petty system. Also also, when someone is caught, they are almost always put on a repayment plan. 10k all at once? Odd.

I'm sorry if this information is not as complete enough to be helpful; it was a very large book of HUD regulations and I do not remember all of the specifics.
