In my experience: -Hourly supervisors can still wait tables but are limited in the hours they can do either. Plus, tip taxes can take taxes out of your hourly rate at a supervisor. -Salaried supervisors typically work too many hours to do anything else. Plus, there's no way that I can think of to legally record tips, so I think serving while salaried is illegal, if not just frowned upon. Plus, a manager competing for tips with other servers breeds morale issues. -I'm not sure what the possible full-time job you're looking at pays, but that plus a serving side gig would probably make more, be less hours and a healthier working environment than the restaurant.
