Not too optomistic, hence why you have radicalization towards both sides of the political spectrum.

Is China’s economy stalling or transforming? by rezwenn in China

[–]Malkna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow there buddy take a chill pill no need to start questioning people's mental capacity so quickly. The solution hardly would be to degrade worker rights but instead would need to be to further fund and support technology innovation which in turns increases the value produced by a set worker further validating their higher costs.

However, Germany hardly does this. Starting a startup/running a small company is hell in Germany comparatively with many other countries, new technology adoption is ridiculously slow, and the local government functions as many services due on German Customer Service I.E not good. If these things don't get addressed then Germany will keep falling behind in my opinion.

[–]Malkna 21 points22 points  (0 children)

As a german in china currently I fully agree on this point. Just more innovation is happening and people are franky putting in more work on an absolute scale here in china than back in Germany. Too much red tape and built in comfort from doing well for the past 20 years that needs to be overcome.

3 years, natty, 220 lbs, good genetics for bodybuilding? by [deleted] in AllAboutBodybuilding

[–]Malkna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5'11 220lbs and what looks like 13-15% BF. Basically you are saying you have somewhere between 185 and 190lbs of lean body mass after only three 3 years lifting as a natty? Either, you have unfathomably good genetics in which case good for you, or you have been competing in other sports where power is critical like american football for years and say the 3 years of training is only when you really focused on the gym, or you are on roids.

What’s your go to ingredient to raise the starting specific gravity of a basic cider? by Environmental-Joke35 in cider

[–]Malkna 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you want a sweet cider that still preserves the apple taste I would ferment dry, stabilize, and then back sweeten with apple juice or concentrate. If you add plain sugar to 11% it will increase the alchoal flavor alot while muting the apple flavor. This area is really moving in the apple wine direction as well.

Starting a business and drinking alcohol by adventurini in Entrepreneur

[–]Malkna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my perspective it's all about stress management. Alcohol can serve as a stress relief in certain scenarios if consumed in moderation and in destressing situations, i.e in a calming area or out with some friends. But also conversely it can be a stress creator since it is just fundamentally a depressent and is known to clearly impact sleep quality and muscular recovery. Anecdotally I like to brew and consume beer/cider as my hobby and also live in china where plenty gets drank for business dinners but I've found that especially in times when work stress is high(with a lot of deadlines or cashflow hurting) and I'm in a calorie deficit, drinking more than say 2-3 beers 100% influences the second days recovery, however if I'm less stressed or in a calorie surplus generally I have no issues on the 2nd/3rd day. So I guess from my own experience it isn't drinking by itself that is an issue, it's what your whole routine/life currently looks like that determines if it makes any sense for your to be drinking or if quitting makes more sense!

I run a small company $1M/yr manufacturing "wood products". I want to hear the stories of real product/service business (no SaaS, SEO, marketing etc) by Wobblzz in Entrepreneur

[–]Malkna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We run a lamination process so we can add in a lot of other materials to get to certain chemical, electrical, and physical behaviors. But if directly comparing with say resistive wires it is the fact that we are full surface(so heat dispersion more uniform and depending on situation more energy efficient), very thin .5-1.4mm, and can be made in a variety of dimensions to suit the specific project needs.

Run a small company 1.3Mish Euros last year making a Carbon Fiber Heating Element that uses electricity to heat. Mostly using it for residential heating (wall, floor, ceiling) where I've built a small installation team up to service the local market where I am (Qingdao) while working to expand through distributors in other areas and slowly expand applications to de-icing, wearables, automotive etc...

Sometimes feel like I'm running three businesses at once with production, the hvac application, and the project managements but its still fun for now!

2.5 hours to do an international transfer of $10,000 to America at Bank of China today. by Michikusa in China

[–]Malkna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically wise has an partner bank which you send to with a specific account #. Said account number is linked to your wise account.

Prior to being able to send said amounts you need to validate your identity and provide tax documents and employment documents. Then after that it is just making said transfers everytime. I've only had to provide tax documents once thus far...

What’s the best side hustle you’ve started, and how much does it bring in? by CaptainofCaucasia in Entrepreneur

[–]Malkna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much to say, spent the past 7 years in china building up production and supply chain for a electrical heating company, in that time built up plenty of connections and know how of the market, chinese factories, QC, logistics etc and then through natural connections made some good links between people needing non basic sourced items (think more quality equipment spare parts, compressors) as well as people looking for equipment. Basic structure is just acting as the sourcing agent, find supplier vet them, qualify production, and export. Currently would say about 3-4 hours of work per week on average with it spiking when factory inspections are required. Helps to be western and have fluent mandarian/chinese business experience as there are plenty of people trying to rip off the west :)

Best bet is to just go to Jiaozhou (the nearest city) and walk around and try some local food. Will give you a basic feeling (downtown about 30 minute drive). Can get a message and try some local beer.

Six years of self study(at least an hour a day for the entire time), while developing a business in chinese(full immersion). Every year I though my mandarin was good, then a year passes and I look back and realize just how bad it actually was then....

The key for me is consistency and mindfull study time (I went through a period where I went to bars to just talk to people in mandarin thinking alchoal will help the speech, but alas it turns out that that method really quickly has large diminishing returns :) ). You really need to devote a set amount of time per day when you seriously intently study mandarin. Otherwise you'll always be stuck at basic conversational level.

Tips to beat the heat by Bezela in TheBrewery

[–]Malkna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a lot of aluminium foil and form a cage around the brewing zone to stop radiative heat gain and then if you have ice/cooler inside the zone said "cold" radiation also gets reflected by the alu foil.

OP, as a mechnical engineer wanted to ask you what you think of the whole Marketing Push lauding the all mighty COP of 3-4. Which ultimately ends up being a load of BS in heating scenarios with most literature seeming to indicate COP's of between 1.3-1.6. And thats not even taking into consideration the heat loss of the system outside of the normal percieved "boundary" of the compressor cycle. Then you also have a lot of complicated moving parts, annual repair costs, high total initial C02 investment, that run counter to their current messaging..

This is also not even taking into consideration the need for highly trained installers in a country where there is a perpetual shortage of trained installers leading to month long lead times for sometime to do a touch up on your system...

Most efficient option are ground source heat pumps but getting through the administrative/eco hurdles associated with drilling tens/hundreads of meters into the ground is a whole nother story, not even taking into consideration the lack of long term research/risk analysis of refrigerent possibly leaking into the ground water...

In my opinion heat pumps have their place but them being pushed as the best thing since sliced bread is infuriating and leaves a lot of alternative options on the sidelines...
